Plastazote LD24 Polyethylene Foam

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd collaborates with numerous reputable material manufacturers and suppliers, providing a wide array of materials in diverse grades, densities, and colors. Among the popular options is Polyethylene (PE) foam, including Plastazote foam, specifically Plastazote LD24 polyethylene foam, with a density of 24kg or LD24.

Plastazote LD24 is a closed-cell, cross-linked polyethylene foam known for its extreme lightweight nature and absence of chemical agents, making it suitable for highly sensitive environments. This material is stocked in block form, allowing us to produce sheets and rolls of various thicknesses.

Our in-house capabilities extend to conversion and lamination services, enabling us not only to split materials but also to laminate layers together and apply self-adhesives or foil facings. Our on-site facilities house numerous presses, log cutters, strippers, bandsaws, and CNC machines, facilitating the production of various LD24 products, including gaskets, washers, strips, pads, and fabrications.

What is Plastazote LD24 Polyethylene Foam?

Plastazote LD24 foam belongs to the category of cross-linked, closed-cell polyethylene foam, produced by expanding crude oil with nitrogen. This manufacturing method results in a resilient and flexible material. When compressed, each nitrogen-filled cell in Plastazote acts like a balloon, allowing the foam to regain its original shape.

Because of its closed-cell structure, Plastazote is impermeable to air and moisture, preventing the passage of liquids or absorption. Like other polyethylene foams, Plastazote comes in various densities tailored for different applications.

The foam's density is determined by measuring its weight across its entire volume or within a cubic meter (m3). Greater foam density means a heavier and more compact material, impacting certain properties and performance characteristics.

Why use Plastazote LD24 Polyethylene Foam?

Plastazote LD24 polyethylene foam, with its higher density than LD18, serves as a cost-effective alternative to materials like EPDM or Neoprene sponge. It's easily split, cut, and molded, ensuring excellent recovery after compression and impact. Additionally, it exhibits good resistance to various chemicals, solvents, acids, alkalies, and some oils, making it versatile for many applications.

All Plastazote materials, including LD24, are lightweight and free from chemical agents, making them suitable for "clean" applications in industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, and science. LD24 also boasts impressive thermal properties and excels in vibration and shock absorption, making it ideal for protective packaging or gasket and seal production.

Advantages of using Plastazote LD24 Polyethylene Foam

Plastazote LD24 polyethylene foam provides numerous advantages, making it highly sought-after across various industries and applications. It's a versatile man-made material, available in different grades, densities, and colors to meet diverse requirements. LD24 is characterized by its odorless, lightweight, buoyant, and non-toxic properties. It also boasts resistance to many oils, solvents, acids, and alkalis.

Thanks to its closed-cell structure, LD24 doesn't absorb liquids and is easy to clean. It's weatherproof, UV-stable, and excels in energy absorption and impact recovery. These qualities make it an excellent choice for protective packaging, including case inserts, and it offers impressive thermal insulation properties.

Utilizing Plastazote materials for packaging and transportation results in cost-saving benefits, as it reduces product damage during transit and storage, ensuring the safety and integrity of goods.
