Commercial Insertion Rubber Washers

ASG are proud to be one of the UK’s leading converters and suppliers of solid rubber washers, such as commercial insertion rubber washers cut from a number of grades including commercial insertion rubber (used to manufacture our solid commercial insertion rubber washers.

Solid commercial insertion rubber is sometimes referred to as SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) rubber, a lower-cost alternative to natural rubber, which is often mixed with other polymers such as neoprene and epdm. As with most solid rubber, commercial insertion is manufactured in roll form at 1.4 meters wide x 10 meters long and in thicknesses starting at 1mm, from which solid commercial insertion rubber washers can be pressed.

Using high-quality material and state-of-the-art machinery, our in-house conversion facilities produce a range of solid commercial insertion rubber washers, all made to order and produced by using samples or drawings as a template to ensure the final product perfectly fits the application - even offering a small sample batch if required for testing.

Depending on the size and quantity of washers required, our production team will select from our range of atoms, autos, travelling head, kiss cut presses or for very large or thick washers, we can programme our CNC (oscillating knife) to produce the commercial insertion rubber washers in the most efficient way to keep quality high, whilst keeping costs competitive and lead times as low as possible.

What Are Solid Commercial Insertion Rubber Washers?

Solid commercial insertion rubber washers are a flat ring comprising of an outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID) and the thickness pressed or cut from a sheet or roll of material, which is placed between two surfaces creating a level surface, acting as a spacer or between a nut and bolt to spread the pressure when tightened or to create a better fit for fittings such as screws and bolts.

They are also used within equipment and machinery between moving parts for abrasion resistance, vibration dampening, sealing and noise reduction. Solid commercial insertion rubber (SBR styrene-butadiene rubber), which is used to manufacture solid commercial insertion rubber washers, is manufactured to the same specification as SBR, but is produced with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre referred to as the ‘insertion’. The reinforcement gives this economy grade material, an even higher tensile strength and wear resistance.

Why Use Solid Commercial Insertion Rubber Washers?

Commercial insertion rubber is a popular choice of material for use in the production of washers offering many excellent properties and are often offered as a low cost, general-purpose material with high tensile and impact strength, resistance to tear and abrasion and flexibility even at low temperatures. Solid commercial rubber washers have a working temperature range of between 70℃ to -20℃, offering a good resistance to water, but are not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons. This material can often be found used in many general-purpose applications.

    Benefits of Commercial Insertion Rubber

    • Excellent resilience and tensile strength
    • Excellent seal against air, water and diluted mixtures
    • Temperature: -20°C up to +70°C.
    • Abrasion resistance
    • Excellent impact strength
    • Improved tear resistance

Advantages Of Using Solid Commercial Insertion Rubber Washers

There are many advantages to using solid commercial insertion rubber washers in your projects as the material offers many excellent properties, characteristics and uses. It’s a flexible material even at low temperatures, demonstrating an operating temperature of -20°C to + 70°C, and is pre-manufactured in a range of thicknesses ready for converting into washers and other sealing products.

Commercial insertion rubber washers offer a high resistance to tear and abrasion, as well as good resistance to weathering and UV. Solid commercial insertion rubber washers resist degradation caused by heat, moisture, gas and some acids and alkaline chemicals.

Grades Of Commercial Insertion Rubber Available

Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with many material manufacturers which gives our customers more choice. Commercial rubber is not only available as an SBR grade, but also blended with other polymers to give a cheaper alternative, some of these blends include:

CR/SBR insertion rubber (neoprene) is manufactured using neoprene rubber and SBR compounds to create a material with properties of premium grade material at a reduced cost. This material is generally used for gap sealing and dust seals. Commercial grade neoprene offers resistance to oils, grease, dilute acids and alkalies and are hard wearing enough to be used outdoors.

NBR/SBR insertion (Nitrile) is manufactured using nitrile rubber and SBR compounds to create a material suitable for general purpose gasketing. This commercial grade rubber offers resistance to fuels, petroleum, oils and many solvents making it suitable for use within a variety of industrial applications.

EPDM/SBR insertion rubber is another hybrid made up of 2 different compounds. This particular grade of material offers good resistance to weathering and Ozone deterioration and provides properties such as a high tensile strength and tear resistance. Commercial grade EPDM rubber is typically used for applications such as pipe seals, weather strips and dust seals.
