Specialist Material Pads
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd specialise in non-metallic materials, offering a massive choice of cut pads made from popular sponge, rubber and plastics, right through to specialist material pads for use within many industries. Each specialist material type is manufactured in various sheet or roll sizes, however as we carry out all our conversion on-site, we can cut these down to produce usable products including pads and in some cases split down or laminate to produce a range of thicknesses. Regardless of the size and quantity of pads required, we have a number of presses, bandsaws or CNC machines that can be used to manufacture the final product. From one-off samples to multiple batches runs, which depending on size can be supplied as loosely cut parts or kiss-cut on rolls where a high quantity is required or for use on fast-paced assembly lines.
What are Specialist Material Pads?
Using a selection of in-house machinery ASG can produce square or rectangular pads with the option of radius corners, and also as circular or oval-shaped pads or ‘discs’, in a range of thicknesses. Manufacturing pads in-house means we can offer the option to supply them in a plain or self-adhesive backed finish and even laminate multiple types of material together to create bespoke and unique variations. Most of the materials we offer can be cut into pads, whether it’s for sealing against harmful chemicals, to fill a gap avoiding the ingress of dust or to resist impact and abrasion, we can offer a material to suit.
Other materials from which we can produce pads include a number of specialist types: some of which include:
Leather is a material historically used as a sealing or gasket material. It is flexible, resilient and can withstand high levels of manipulation making it suitable for hydraulic gaskets, pipeline and air pump seals, etc. When prepared correctly, leather can be resistant to water, oil, salts, grease and detergents.
Post Office Sponge (orange open cell sponge) pads are resistant to ozone, oils, acids and alkaline. This open cell sponge is designed to be absorbent and often used in packaging, labelling or other wet applications.
Abrasion Resistant Polyurethane pads are manufactured from one of the toughest and wear/abrasion-resistant materials on offer. This material has excellent electrical insulation properties, and resistance to high impact, weather, oil and petrol.
Benefits of Using Specialist Materials Pads
Advanced Seals and Gaskets Ltd offer a massive range of material choice from which we can convert into pads, from popular foams and sponges to more odd-ball and specialist materials. Specialist material pads can be used for a range of applications with varying levels of strength and resistance requirements. Where it’s to create an air-tight seal between pipes, through to heavy machinery applications with exposure to chemicals, vibration, extreme heat and high impact – we have a material to suit. If you are unable to find the material you require or can’t decide which is best for you – give our friendly sales team a call who will be able to discuss your application needs further.
