PVC Plastics

One group of materials on offer from Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd is a range of plastics, available in numerous grades, colours and thicknesses, one of which includes a variety of PVC plastics or polyvinyl chloride which is recognised as one the most popular engineering plastics.

PVC plastics can be supplied in sheets up to 2000mm x 1000mm in size and thicknesses between 1mm and 20mm as standard.  Not only is PVC plastic available in sheets, but the material can also be moulded or vacuum-formed into bespoke shapes and is found used across several industry sectors including building, transport, packaging, electrical/electronic and healthcare applications.

Using one of our many on-site saws, presses or CNC machines, we are able to convert PVC plastics into bespoke components such as pads, washers, strips and gaskets, all of which can be supplied coated with a choice of adhesive tapes or foils.

    What is PVC Plastic?

Polyvinyl chloride or PVC plastic, one of the world's most popular synthetic plastics polymers, as its highly durable and can be produced in a range of formats including soft foams, rigid sheets and very thin flexible films.  PVC is one of the most commonly used of all plastics as it can be extruded into any form in order to produce pipework, toys and automotive dashboards.

    Why use PVC Plastic?

Plastics are all manufactured using different compounds in order to produce materials and products with specific properties.  PVC Plastic is a stable and inert material which is extremely workable and will hold it’s shape even during vigorous milling and sawing processes.

It is highly chemically stable and offers excellent compressive strength and electrical insulation properties, available in a range of colours which can be very transparent or opaque.

Applications in which PVC plastics are more commonly found used include piping systems, chemical or acid tanks, cladding, electrical cases and as fabricated parts used within machinery and equipment.

    Benefits of using PVC Plastic

    • Cost effective
    • Impact, corrosion, abrasion and weather resistant
    • High chemical resistance
    • Strong and rigid
    • Can be easily machined, heated and bent, glued and moulded
    • low heat and electricity conductivity for use with electrical insulation

    Advantages of using PVC Plastic

PVC is one of the worlds most commonly used plastics, this is due to the vast range of advantages and desirable properties the material offers.  The material itself is strong, rigid and lightweight.  It offers durability and longevity as PVC plastic is resistant to weather, chemical and weather corrosion, shock and abrasion which means it can be utilised for many indoor and outdoor applications.

PVC plastic is available in flat sheet or moulded profiles, which can be further converted by way of sawing, milling, drilling or bending (heated and manipulated) to produce finish components such as washers, strips, gaskets, tubes, pipes, etc.

PVC plastic is also non-toxic, does not conduct electricity so can be used for electrical applications and although PVC plastic will burn, it is self-extinguishing  due to having a high chlorine content.

    Other types of plastic available
