Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber

Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber

Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd work with a wide network of material manufacturers and therefore are able to offer a range of solid rubber materials one of which is a solid nitrile insertion rubber. As with all solid rubber, nitrile insertion rubber is manufactured in roll form at 1.4 meters wide x 10 meters long, in thicknesses starting at just 1mm, which we can supply in full, or convert into sheets and usable components such as gaskets, strips, pads and washers in a plain or self-adhesive backed finish.

Solid Nitrile is usually manufactured in a 65° shore hardness (the shore hardness is measured using a shore durometer which indicates the level of resistance to indentation, the higher number on the scale indicate a greater resistance - harder the material/lower number indicate less resistance- softer the material) with all the excellent properties of standard nitrile rubber, but with the addition of the stretch resistance reinforcement.

What is Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber?

Solid nitrile insertion rubber is manufactured to the same specification as nitrile rubber giving it the same excellent properties but is produced with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre which is referred to as the ‘insertion’ which is used to prevent the material from stretching, therefore increasing its wear and tear resistance.

Nitrile insertion rubber can be supplied in full rolls, or cut into sheets and other mechanical components such as gaskets, seals, strips for use where oil and fuel resistance is required.

Why use Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber?

Nitrile insertion rubber has many excellent properties and is excellent for creating air, dust and watertight seals, with excellent tensile strength, anti-abrasion properties and resistance to petrol, mineral & vegetable oils and some acids and alkalis, the material also some flame retardancy, and a working temperature range of -20°C to +70℃.

Nitrile rubber sheets are mostly recognised by the resistance of the material to ‘swell’ when under exposure to oils and fuel, therefore holding its sealing capabilities making it a popular choice for automotive belting, hoses, o-rings, and oil seals within engines, hydraulics and flanges.

Nitrile Insertion rubber can be found used in applications including conveyor belts, farming machinery, Abrasive applications, flange gaskets on pipes and tanks, transfer and joining sleeves, oil and fuel seals, Insulating strip and Isolation barriers. Industries, where these products can be found, include mining/quarrying, construction, oil/gas, defence, etc.

Benefits Of Using Nitrile Insertion Gaskets

    • Resistant to many chemicals and solvents
    • Suitable for automotive industries
    • Water, mineral oil, petrol resistance.
    • Can be formed into complex seals and extrusions
    • Abrasive resistant and excellent mechanical strength
    • Excellent seal against gasses
    • Tear and stretch resistance

    Different Grades

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd have a network of material suppliers and manufacturers, meaning we have access to various grades of insertion rubber which include:

SBR Insertion rubber  (Styrene-butadiene rubber) is a cost-effective, commercial-grade, general-purpose rubber with good abrasion resistance, tensile strength and a low compression set. SBR rubber is not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons

Neoprene insertion rubber (CR) Solid Neoprene is one of our most popular solid rubber materials, with various thicknesses held in stock. Neoprene is suitable for use where there is exposure to grease, oil, acids, ozone and even seawater.

Solid EPDM insertion rubber (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) another very popular solid rubber is great for use in outdoor applications. This material is resistant to water, UV, ozone, weather, abrasion, alkalines, ketones and diluted acids.
