Polyurethane Rubber Strip

Polyurethane Rubber Strip

Polyurethane Rubber Strip

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd excels in handling a wide range of materials, including foams, sponges, plastics, and rubbers, such as Polyurethane Rubber Strips in both foam and solid forms.

Solid Polyurethane, a synthetic polymer, offers exceptional performance, abrasion resistance, and durability, making it a versatile choice across industries.

Industrial-grade Polyurethane rubber, readily available, offers hardness options ranging from 60° shore to 80° shore, in translucent and black colors. Custom hardness levels from 5 shore to 95 shore can be ordered, with thicknesses ranging from 1.5mm to 10mm (and up to 100mm in some sheets). Rolls come in 1.4m width and 5m or 10m lengths.

Polyurethane rolls can be customized in various colors and transformed into finished products, including cut strips. Our made-to-order solid Polyurethane rubber strips are produced using a variety of machines, such as band saws, strippers, log cutters, and presses, adapted to size and quantity requirements. For high-volume runs of small strips, a kiss-cut option can expedite production. In-house production ensures rigorous quality control and competitive pricing for consistently high-quality strips.

What are Solid Polyurethane Rubber Strips?

Solid Polyurethane Rubber Strips, meticulously cut to specific dimensions, serve as versatile components, ideal for sealing, cushioning, or insulating applications.

Solid Polyurethane, an incredibly resilient synthetic rubber, offers exceptional strength and impressive abrasion resistance. It's available in roll or sheet form, allowing it to be used as is or precisely transformed into strips of varying lengths and thicknesses using our state-of-the-art saws, presses, and CNC machines, all customized to meet your specific requirements.

Why use Solid Polyurethane Rubber Strips?

Polyurethane Rubber Strips are prized for their strength, durability, and a host of other properties, including excellent aging, chemical, oil, grease, and solvent resistance.

Compared to many other rubber materials, Solid Polyurethane strips exhibit superior tear resistance, excellent high load-bearing capabilities, efficient energy absorption for sound and vibration control, and a reduced tendency to discolor.

Solid Polyurethane offers a wide working temperature range, spanning from -30°C to +80°C, and is available in thicknesses up to 100mm.

These versatile strips can be customized in a wide range of hardness levels, from 5 to 95 shore, various colors, and even different sizes and finishes when using an extruded or molded variant.

    Alternative Grades of Solid Rubber

Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a wide network of material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice when looking for solid rubber, our most popular grades include:

    • Neoprene (CR) is one of our most popular solid rubber materials, with various thicknesses  held in stock.  Neoprene is suitable for use where there is exposure to grease, oil, acids, ozone and even sea water.
    • EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) another very popular solid rubber is great for use in outdoor applications.  This material is resistant to water, UV, ozone, weather, abrasion, alkalines, ketones and diluted acids.
    • Nitrile (NBR) rubber is a popular solid material for use within the automotive industry where there is contact with petroleum, oil and grease.
    • SBR (Styrene-butadiene rubber) is a cost effective, commercial grade, general purpose rubber with good abrasion resistance, tensile strength and low compression set. (not sure use with petrol and chemicals).
    • Silicone (SI) is an excellent electrical insulation material which can operate at high and low temperatures.   Silicone rubber performs well when exposed to UV, weathering, ozone and moisture, and is available in a range of colours.
    • Viton rubber materials are manufactured for more demanding applications where there are harsh chemicals and high temperatures present.  Viton rubber offers resistance to fluids, oils, acids and petroleum based liquids.

    Benefits of Using Solid Polyurethane

The type of solid Polyurethane Rubber Strip used will depend on the industry, environment and application it is going to be used in and what it will be exposed to.  Depending on material used, some of the benefits offered by Solid PU rubber include:

    • Popular for automotive, electrical, industrial, medical, marine and construction
    • Operating Temperature Range: -30°C to +80°C
    • Variety of grades, colours, hardnesses available
    • Energy (vibration/sound) absorption
    • Resistance to oils, grease, chemicals, solvents, ageing, tearing  and abrasion
    • Lightweight and flexible

Advantages of using Polyurethane Rubber Strips

Solid Polyurethane Rubber Strips offer a plethora of benefits. Notably, Polyurethane excels in extreme temperatures, resists abrasion, and repels moisture.

Its attributes encompass being lightweight, shock-absorbing, durable, and flexible, ensuring integrity under high heat and heavy loads. Furthermore, it demonstrates remarkable oil resistance, making it suitable for lubricant-exposed environments. Its high-temperature resistance makes it a favored choice for applications involving extreme heat, such as ovens and furnaces, and it's widely used in the automotive sector.

Polyurethane comes in roll or sheet form and can be converted on-site into customized strips. For unique requirements like hollow center strips, extrusion or molding processes can be employed. Its extended lifespan, especially under constant stretching or stress, sets it apart from other rubber types.

Polyurethane components are meticulously crafted from a non-corrosive compound, offering a range of hardness and color options, while benefiting from advanced manufacturing techniques.
