Neoprene Rubber Sheet

Neoprene Rubber Sheet

Neoprene Rubber Sheet

One of the many solid materials offered by Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd is neoprene rubber, this material is being manufactured in roll form usually at 1.4mtrs wide x 10mtrs long and in thicknesses starting at 1.5mm, which are stocked by ASG ready to be converted into various other products including sheets.

Neoprene rubber sheets can be cut down to our customers desired size, and then supplied with a plain or self-adhesive finish using our in-house laminating service.  Neoprene rubber is often taken in roll form or as sheets as they give the customer and end-users the flexibility to cover large surface areas and to be able to cut their own strips/gaskets/washers/pads out as and when they are required.

Neoprene rubber sheets are often used in external applications as the material has excellent resistance to ageing, ozone and weathering.

What is Neoprene Rubber Sheet?

Neoprene (or polychloroprene) is a synthetic rubber, black in colour,  which has good chemical stability and maintains its natural flexibility over a wide range of temperatures.   Neoprene rubber sheets are highly durable as the material holds a high tolerance to extreme weathers and conditions, with good resistance to oil, chemicals and ozone.

Neoprene rubber sheets are available in a range of hardnesses from  40°- 70° shore (the shore hardness is measured using a shore durometer which indicates the level of resistance to indentation, the higher number on the scale indicate a greater resistance - harder the material/lower number indicate less resistance- softer the material)

Neoprene rubber sheets are used by our customers for linings or producing gaskets/washers/pads for use as electrical insulation, anti-vibration, belting, sleeves and much more.  Neoprene rubber sheets are available in a range of grades and densities, some of which are detailed below.

    Sheets

ASG produce sheets in a wide array of materials such as EPDM, neoprene, rubber, plastic, polyethene, polyether and polyurethane and many more.  We produce the sheets in house using our state of the art machinery, this helps ensure that we consistently produce high-quality sheets in each of the materials.

This also allows us to work closely with our customers to provide sheets in the desired specifications such as the width, thickness and length.  Get in touch for more information on our range of sheeting.

    Why use Neoprene Rubber Sheet?

Neoprene rubber sheets have a massive amount of desirable properties which means it can be used within countless applications.  Neoprene rubber sheets have good resistance to oils, chemicals, UV, ozone/weathering and moderate resistance to oils (animal/vegetable) and inorganic salts.

It has a wide working temperature range of-20°C to +70℃ (depending on grade) and is a strong material with excellent abrasion properties.

Neoprene rubber sheets can be converted into a range of products such as sleeves, tubes, gaskets and washers for use in countless applications including electrical insulations, engineering applications, window seal and cable protection, to name a few.

    Different Grades

Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a multitude of material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice when using neoprene rubber sheets.  Neoprene rubber sheets can be supplied in a number of grades and hardnesses, some of the main ones being:

(BS2752) British standard 2752  is a higher performing, stronger grade of neoprene rubber which offers a wider working temperature range of  -30°C up to +120°C, greater resistance to ageing, weathering, acids, inorganic salts, oils and ozone as well as improved strength and anti-abrasion qualities in comparison to standard neoprene.  This grade is available inshore hardnesses of 40°, 50°, 60°, 70° and 80.

Flame retardant neoprene rubber sheets can handle continuous temperatures of -30°C to +100°C, this material meets the test requirements of the flammability standard UL94-V0 and is in line with ISO 340. Flame retardant neoprene rubber sheets are also tested in accordance with anti-static BS 490.

Food Quality (FDA) neoprene is white in colour and conforms to EC and FDA regulations for use within the food processing and pharmaceutical industries.  Properties including resistance to fats, greases and vegetable oils, combined with higher tensile strength and wider working temperature range of  -30°C up to +130°C make it a popular material to use.

    Benefits of Neoprene Rubber Sheet

    • Popular for external applications
    • Durable
    • Variety of Grades available
    • Impermeable to water and dust
    • Moderate resistance to oil, chemical greases and fats.
    • excellent resistance to ozone, weathering and ageing

The Advantages of Using Neoprene Rubber Sheet

A neoprene rubber sheet is very popular amongst a range of industries due to the number of excellent properties and the various grades available.  Neoprene rubber is used where a durable, strong, abrasive material is required in an environment where exposure or sealing against extreme weather, water, salts, oil grease, UV/Ozone and gases is necessary.  Neoprene rubber sheets are easy to convert and can be used for a broad range of applications from boating, marine sealing and insulation - through to being cut into gaskets, belts and sleeves.
