Reconstituted Polyurethane Foam

Advanced Seals & Gaskets are leading suppliers in various types and grades of foam and solid Polyurethane, including reconstituted polyurethane foam products and materials, also sometimes called chip foam. Recon foam is manufactured in very large master blocks or ‘buns’, which are held in stock ready to be split into sheets or split and joined into continuous lengths or rolls of materials.

Our in-house state of the art conversion facilities enable us to be able to produce and supply sheets and rolls of reconstituted polyurethane starting from as little as 1.5mm, however we also have a range of presses, kiss cut machines, log cutters and bandsaws which allows us to further convert reconstituted foam into finished products such as gaskets, strips, tapes, pads or washers, supplied in a plain finish or coated with one of may foils or self-adhesives and even laminated to other materials to create composites.

    What Is Reconstituted Polyurethane Foam?

Chip foam or reconstituted Polyurethane (PU) foam is a recycled material produced and constructed using various grades of polyurethane foam which are waste and have otherwise been discarded, such as offcuts from gasket production, or trimmings from sheets and rolls. The mixture of discarded foam are fed through a large shedder which chips the material down into small pieces. These small ‘chips’ of PU foam and these compresses and bonded together producing a multi-coloured block of material.

    Why Use Reconstituted Polyurethane Foam?

Reconstituted Polyurethane foam is an affordable, compact, highly resistant foam, ideal for the product of a range of products for use in a range of applications.

Reconstituted foam is available in many different weights and can be formed in a variety of shapes ideal for use for cushioning and protection, as a barrier to protect and to absorb noise and vibration. Due to the strength and durability of recon foam, it is used in many demanding and heavy duty applications such as transport seating, gym mats, sound insulation and packaging.

    Benefits Of Using Reconstituted Foam

    • Cushioning
    • Compressibility
    • Sound Absorption
    • Vibration Dampening
    • Cost effective
    • Insulating

    Available Grades of Polyurethane Foam

Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a number of material manufacturers, giving our customers more choice when looking for polyurethane foam rolls, our most popular types being:

    • Acoustic
    • egg box
    • Pick & Pluck
    • HLB
    • Basotech

Advantages Of Using Reconstituted Polyurethane Foam

Reconstituted polyurethane foam and components cut from them hold many advantageous properties that make the material desirable to many of our customers. The material is cost-effective and eco-friendly as it’s made from recycled off-cuts and leftover pieces from converted products.

Reconstituted polyurethane foam can be used for cushioning, sound and vibration control in industries such as automotive, audio, sports and leisure, aerospace, marine, rail, and domestic manufacturing sectors. Reconstituted polyurethane foam is made using a combination of different types of PU foams, however can be made in different weights and densities depending on how much the chips are compressed during production.

Using our state of the art equipment, we are able to manufacture a wide range of foam products including gaskets, pads, seals and strips, available coated with a choice of foils and self adhesives.
