Commercial Rubber Strip

Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets, we offer a vast variety of high-quality sponge and solid rubber strips, all manufactured using some of the latest states of the art machinery.  Solid Commercial rubber strips are one of 1000’s products we are able to produce in-house, which are all made to order, manufactured using one of many machines including bandsaws, strippers, log cutter and even presses depending on the size and quantity required.

For very small strips in high quantities, a kiss-cut option may also be available for a quicker turnaround and ease of use. Solid Commercial rubber (SBR) are converted directly from sheets or rolls and can be produced in a range of thicknesses starting at just 1mm, and cut into commercial rubber strips or coils up to 10 meters long and coated in one of many adhesives or foils.

Solid commercial rubber rolls are stocked by ASG ready to be supplied in roll or cut sheets but also converted into various other products including strips. Solid commercial rubber strips offers higher wear resistance and is more flexible at low temperatures.

What are Solid Commercial Rubber Strips?

Solid Commercial Rubber (SBR styrene-butadiene rubber) is an economy-grade material (used to manufacture commercial rubber strips), black in colour which has a higher wear resistance compared to solid natural rubber and remains flexible even at low temperatures.

SBR rubber compounds are often mixed with another polymer such as neoprene (NR/SBR), EPDM and Nitrile (NBR/SBR) which are intended to improve or add additional properties.  Solid commercial rubber is available in a range of hardnesses of 60, 65 and 70 shore A.

SBR strips are pieces of the material often cut to a specific width, in pre-cut lengths or continuous coils as requested by our customers, often used in a similar way to a gasket placed between two surfaces to create a seal, provide cushioning, anti-vibration or insulation.

Why use Solid Commercial Rubber Strips?

Our customers often use Commercial rubber strips as it is a low cost, general-purpose material with high tensile and impact strength, resistance to abrasion and flexibility even at low temperatures. Solid commercial rubber strips have a working temperature range of between 70℃ to -20℃ and have good resistance to water.

SBR commercial rubber strips are not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons.  This material can often be found used in many general-purpose applications such as wear strips and impact pads in production lines, automotive parts, scraper blades, gasket tapes and seals.

    Benefits of Commercial Rubber

    • Excellent resilience and tensile strength
    • Excellent seal against air, water and diluted mixtures
    • Temperature: -20°C up to +70°C.
    • Abrasion resistance
    • Excellent  impact strength
    • Can be converted onsite to bespoke sizes and in various finishes

    Grades of Commercial Rubber Available

Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with many material manufacturers which gives our customers more choice.  Commercial rubber is not only available as an SBR grade, but also blended with other polymers to give a cheaper alternative, some of these blends include:

CR/SBR (neoprene)  is manufactured using neoprene rubber and SBR compounds to create a material with properties of premium grade material at a reduced cost.  This material is generally used for gap sealing and dust seals.  Commercial grade neoprene offers resistance to oils, grease, dilute acids and alkalies and are hard-wearing enough to be used outdoors.

NBR/SBR (Nitrile) is manufactured using nitrile rubber and SBR compounds to create a material suitable for general purpose gasketing.  This commercial-grade rubber offers resistance to fuels, petroleum, oils and many solvents making it suitable for use within a variety of industrial applications.

EPDM/SBR rubber is another hybrid made up of 2 different compounds.  This particular grade of material offers good resistance to weathering and Ozone deterioration and provides properties such as high tensile strength and tear resistance.  Commercial grade EPDM rubber is typically used for applications such as pipe seals, weather strips and dust seals.
