ABS Plastics

Plastics are just one of many materials available from Advanced Seals & Gaskets, available in numerous grades, colours, thicknesses, finishes and sheet sizes, one of which includes ABS plastic or Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene.

ABS plastics can be supplied in sheets up to 2500mm x 1250mm in size and thicknesses between 1mm and 6mm which can be cut down to size to order.

ABS plastic can also be moulded or vacuumed formed into bespoke shapes and are found used across several industry sectors, producing 1000’s of products from LEGO to lawnmowers. Using one of our many on-site saws, presses or CNC machines, we are able to convert ABS plastic into bespoke sizes sheets or pads, washers and strips, all of which can be supplied with a choice of self adhesives or foils.

    What Is ABS Plastic?

ABS plastic is made up of three monomers acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene, which make up this particular thermoplastic - a polymer which can be melted over and over again. These three monomers create a tough and durable material, which can be produced in different variations by adjusting the amounts each compound added or with the addition of additives.

    Why Use ABS Plastic?

Our range of plastic materials and products are manufactured to be able to offer different properties, with ABS demonstrating strength, chemical, thermal stability and resistance to impact and chemical corrosion. Many items designed for the outdoors such as bins, storage boxes, garden tool casings and covers, etc are made using ABS as it is extremely weather resistant, however will deteriorate over time if exposed to UV.

    Other Types of Plastic Available

Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a multitude of material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice of plastic sheeting - our most popular materials being:

    • PTFE
    • Polycarbonate
    • Polypropylene
    • HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene)
    • PVC
    • Polyester
    • Acetal
    • Acrylic
    • Nylatron

    Advantages Of Using ABS Plastics

Some of the many advantages of using ABS plastic include the cost or production and purchasing of the material itself, its strong, impact and shock resistant and sturdy, a material which can not only be melted and re-formed several times, but is also easy to recycle.

ABS plastic is made more versatile as it can be manufactured in a range of colours and finishes and also cut, pressed or moulded into bespoke shapes and profiles.

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene can be found in a wide range of commercial and domestic applications and often used in the production of helmets, face guards, wall sockets, car interiors, tubing, kitchen utensils, musical instruments, toys, suitcases, electrical appliances, signs, model and prototyping, to name a few.

    Benefits Of Using ABS Plastic
