Conductive Silicone Pads

Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Pads

Conductive Silicone Pads

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are one of the country’s leading manufacturers of quality pads (including conductive silicone rubber pads), cut from a whole range of non-metallic materials including various types of solid rubber, one of which is Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber.  Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber is manufactured in thicknesses of 1.6mm, 2mm and 3.2mm at 915mm wide, and supplied in 1-meter widths up to 10 meters long.

As we carry out all our conversions on-site, we can cut these down into bespoke sized pads, regardless of the size and quantity of pads required, we have a number of presses, bandsaws or CNC machines that can be used to manufacture the final product.

From one-off samples to multiple 1000 batches runs, which depending on the pad size can be supplied as loosely cut parts or kiss-cut on rolls where a high quantity is required or for use on fast-paced assembly lines.

What are Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Pads?

Conductive Silicone Rubber (used to manufacture our range of conductive silicone rubber pads) is a carbon filled silicone material that acts as a low amp conductor, often used for the prevention and protection of static charge (electrostatic discharge) build-up.

The generic term often used to describe a rubber material with conductive properties is ‘conductive rubber’. These materials and products are used for the purpose of eliminating electromagnetic interference and radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI noise) often found in electronics.

Using a selection of in-house machinery ASG  can produce square or rectangular pads with the option of radius corners, and also as circular or oval-shaped pads or ‘discs’,  in a range of thicknesses.

Manufacturing pads in-house means we can offer the option to supply them in a plain or self-adhesive backed finish and even laminate multiple types of material together to create bespoke and unique variations.

Why use Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Pads?

Electrically conductive silicone rubber is made using the same formulation as standard silicone rubber, but incorporating conductive carbon particles throughout the material.

It is an excellent material for producing high-performance mechanical pads and others that can operate at high and low temperatures and can be found as components in machinery, enclosures or equipment in indoor and outdoor applications with Electrically conductive silicone rubber offering weathering, UV and Ozone resistance and a wide operating temperature range of -54°C to + 260°, making it suitable for a range of industries and applications including electronic enclosure shielding, and connectors in medical, defence, aerospace and telecommunications.

Advantages of using Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Pads

Customers often choose Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber for the production of the conductive silicone rubber pads as the material has a number of excellent characteristics and features, suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Silicone rubber has a broad working temperature range of -54°C to + 260°C for use in hot and cold environments meaning it will not become brittle in freezing temperatures, unlike many other rubber materials.

It is resistant to weathering, ozone, many chemicals and fungal growth and offers excellent tensile strength and tear resistance.

Electrically conductive silicone rubber pads can be found used in many applications and industries where electro-static shielding is required including military, defence, medical and telecommunications in the form of enclosure seals, door seals and isolation barriers.
