EVA Polyethylene Foam Strip

EVA polyethylene Foam Strip

EVA Polyethylene Foam Strip

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are amongst the leading UK manufacturers of EVA foam strip.  A combination of extensive storage facilities and a network of reputable material manufacturers and suppliers, enables us to offer strips cut using many grades, densities and colours of Polyethylene (PE) foam, one of which includes Expanded Closed Cell  Cross Linked EVA Polyethylene foam.  EVA Polyethylene or ‘EVA block foam’ as it is sometimes referred to as a cross linked material which look virtually identical to standard Polyethylene, however these EVA foams are stronger and more resilient due to the EV OR ethylene vinyl acetate content.    EVA Polyethylene foam is produced by a copolymerization reaction between vinyl acetate and ethylene, resulting in a versatile material which can be used as an alternative to other materials such as PVC and Polyurethane foams.

EVA Polyethylene is  manufactured and stocked in block or ‘bun’ form from which can be split down into sheets of various thicknesses starting from as little as 1.5mm,  or rolls - made by joining blocks of material together prior to splitting them, both of which can be used to further convert into cut strips in lengths of up to 100 meters.   EVA PE foam strips,  gasket tapes or sealing strips or foam tapes as they are commonly know, are all made to order, manufactured using state of the art machinery including band saws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required - for very small strips in high volume runs, a kiss-cut option may also be available for faster production and time efficiency for the end user.  In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality, competitively priced Evazote strips  Our on-site laminating service enables us to supply EVA PE foam strips in choice of finishes including plain or coated on one of both faces with a range of self-adhesives, foils or even laminated to other materials.

What are EVA Polyethylene Foam Strips?

EVA Polyethylene foam strips are pieces of material cut to a specific length as requested by our customers, alternatively they can be taken as continuous rolls or coils to be cut down to the required length by the end user.  These EVA foam tapes are often used in a similar way to a gasket placed between  two surfaces to create a seal or provide cushioning and insulation.

EVA foams, like other polyethylene foams, are manufactured in block or ‘bun’ form, in a range of densities and colours for use in different applications. EVA PE foam is a crosslinked Polyethylene foam. Crosslinking is a manufacturing process that makes the foam more resistant to many substances including chemicals, Ethylene-vinyl acetate, or EVA is a co-polymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate with a very fine closed cell structure that is impervious to air and liquids. The cross linking combined with the EVA additive also produces a lighter and more elastic material which has better recovery from stretching and compression, which is smoother in appearance in comparison to standard PE foam.

Why use EVA 30KG Polyethylene Foam Strips?

EVA Polyethylene Foam strips and tapes can be manufactured in densities of 30kg or 45kg and in different colours, using either sheets or rolls of material depending upon the size and quantity of strip required.  Ethylene-vinyl acetate or EVA Polyethylene is a soft, flexible material with a very fine cell structure that makes these strips impervious to air and liquids meaning moistures will not pass through nor will it be absorbed.   Although softer than some other polyethylene foam tapes,  those manufactured using EVA Polyethylene are more resilient and durable enabling them to absorb impact and pressure without deteriorating or tearing.  EVA PE foam strips can be found widely used within the building and construction industries where they are used to create seals and expansion joints.

EVA  Polyethylene foam strips or gasket tapes  are used to fill gaps and irregularities between uneven surfaces, provide a solution to unwanted rattles, noise, vibrations, to seal against air, gas, dust and liquids, and can also be used to cushion between moving parts to reduce friction and damage to components and equipment.   EVA PE Foam strips can easily be compressed, which is a requirement in order for strips used as gaskets or sealing tapes to work effectively, as it needs to compress and fill the entire space to create a pressure and air tight protective seal

Advantages of using EVA Polyethylene Foam

Strips made using EVA Polyethylene foam offer countless advantages and are highly utilised in numerous industries and applications,  Polyethylene foam is a man-made material, designed  to suit a range of requirements and is available in a choice of grades, densities and colours.  The PE foams closed cell structure  means these strips can be used in sealing applications against liquid, gases and particles.

EVA PE foam is a man-made material, designed  to suit a range of requirements offering features such as being odourless, lightweight, buoyant making EVA PE foams a popular choice  for the production of sealing and cushioning parts which require excellent recovery from repetitive impact and compression.  Polyethylene EVA foam also has a number of desirable properties including resistance to wear and tear and a working temperature range of -40°C to +80°C, it also offers excellent mechanical characteristics including noise and vibration control and can be used for thermal insulation.

EVA Polyethylene foam is aesthetically pleasing, with a nice texture which is easy to fabricate, laminate and cut into parts including strips using a range of techniques and processes such as bandsawing, log cuttin, slitting and for very small strips, kiss cutting may also be an option.
