Specialist Materials Gaskets

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd specialise in non-metallic gaskets, offering a massive choice of materials from the popular sponge, rubber and plastics, right through to specialist material gaskets for use within many industries.  The quality of the cut and finish of the gasket is just as important as the material used, therefore we ensure our in-house manufacturing team follow our customer’s drawings or samples to create an exact match – whether it’s a simple square picture frame gasket or a more complex shape with cut-outs – we can offer a solution. From a one-off sample to multi-thousand runs, we have a machine to quickly and accurately produce perfectly formed gaskets in a range of sizes, these include a number of presses and CNC machines.

What are specialist material gaskets?

A gasket is an intricately cut shaped piece or ring of material placed between two surfaces to create a seal, however, they can sometimes also take the form of a strip, washer or pad.  Most of the materials we offer can be cut and used as gaskets, whether it’s for sealing against harmful chemicals or to fill a gap avoiding the ingress of dust, we have a range of material types to choose from.

Material types

Other materials from which we can produce gaskets include a number of specialist types, these can include:

Leather is a material historically used as a sealing or gasket material.  It is flexible, resilient and can withstand high levels of manipulation making it suitable for hydraulic gaskets, pipeline and air pump seals, etc.  When prepared correctly, leather can be resistant to water, oil, salts, grease and detergents.

Post Office Sponge (orange open cell sponge) gaskets are resistant to ozone, oils, acids and alkaline.  This open cell sponge is designed to be absorbent and often used in packaging, labelling or other wet applications.

Abrasion Resistant Polyurethane gaskets are manufactured from one of the toughest and wear/abrasion-resistant materials on offer.  This material has excellent electrical insulation properties, and resistance to high impact, weather, oil and petrol.

Benefits of Using Specialist Materials Gaskets

Advanced Seals and Gaskets Ltd offer a massive range of material choice from which we can convert into gaskets, from popular foams and sponges to more odd-ball and specialist materials. Specialist materials can be used for a range of applications with varying levels of strength and resistance requirements. Whether it’s a simple gasket to create an air-tight seal between pipes through to heavy machinery gaskets exposed to chemicals, vibration, extreme heat and high impact – we have a material to suit. If you are unable to find the material you require or can’t decide which is best for you – give our friendly sales team a call who will be able to discuss your application needs further.
