Neoprene Gaskets

Neoprene Gaskets

Advanced Seals & Gaskets we offer an excellent in-house gasket cutting service, using high-quality material and state of the art machinery, we can offer gaskets cut from a range of materials including neoprene sponge, also sometimes referred to as neoprene foam gaskets.  Neoprene sponge gaskets are produced using drawings provided by our customers, with whom we work closely to ensure the final product is to their exact specification.

Depending upon the size and quantity of gaskets required, we have a machine that can manufacture the final product, from one-off samples to multiple runs.  Gaskets are one of our more popular products as many industries require them for sealing against dust, air and moisture, gap-filling between uneven surfaces or for reducing unwanted noise and vibration. Neoprene gaskets are preferred in applications where there is exposure to water, chemicals and oil.

What are Neoprene Sponge Gaskets?

Neoprene sponge rubber (also referred to as Polychloroprene) is just one of many closed-cell materials on offer from our vast catalogue.  This material is very versatile and used to manufacture a number of our products, including gaskets.

Neoprene sponge rubber is one of ASG’s stock materials, held in the block, sheet and roll form in a range of thicknesses starting from as little as 1.5mm, ensuring gaskets can be produced within a minimum timeframe.

Neoprene gaskets can be manufactured in any form from a basic square picture frame, to more intricate shapes containing cut-outs and with a range of finishes including foils, self-adhesives or laminated with other materials.

    Why use Neoprene Sponge Gaskets?

Neoprene sponge rubber has a number of desirable properties making it a popular choice for use as a gasketing material. Its closed-cell structure creates an air, dust and water tight seal, with great longevity compared to other materials thanks to its excellent ageing properties, being resilient to ozone, sunlight, oxidation and UV exposure. Neoprene gaskets are resistant to oil, chemically inert and flame retardant therefore found used within many building & construction, glazing, electronic and automotive applications.

    Gaskets

Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets, we offer a variety of gaskets in an array of materials such as EPDM, Silicone, Solid rubber, Cork, Felt & Textiles, Plastics, Polyethylene, Polyurethane and PVC foam to name just a few.

All of our gaskets are made in house with specialised machinery as we understand the final cut and finish of gaskets need to be perfect.

Gaskets are designed for sealing between 2 or more irregular surfaces, where they prevent leakages once compressed, having the incorrect shape, size or material would cause the gasket to fail.  For further assistance in the production of your gasket, please give our expert sales team a call.

The Advantages of Using Neoprene Sponge Gaskets

There are many advantages to using neoprene sponge gaskets in your project. The material itself is long-lasting, with a wide operating temperature range, it can be utilised for many indoor and outdoor applications, it’s easy to convert into the most complex shaped gaskets and will hold self-adhesive and other backings well.

Under minimal compression, neoprene sponge gaskets provide excellent dust,  air and watertight seal as well as good resistance against oil. Being a flexible and robust material, neoprene sponge gaskets are suitable for use within many automotive, glazing, electronic, lighting, ventilation and building/construction applications.

    Benefits of Neoprene Sponge Gaskets

    • Oil & chemical resistant
    • Durable
    • UV, Ozone & weathering resistant
    • Flame retardant
    • Sound/vibration absorbing
    • Closed-cell which prevents bacteria & mould growth

    Different Grades

Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a number of material manufacturers, meaning our customers benefit from a choice of grades when designing their gaskets.  Neoprene sponge gaskets can be produced not only in our medium density Neoprene but also in a Flame Retardant, Firm grade and EPDM/Neoprene Blended grade.

Firm Grade Neoprene sponge gaskets are also closed-cell, fire resistance tested to FMVSS 302, and has a density of 180kg (+/- 25), meaning they can be used in more heavy-duty applications, where less compression is needed to create a tight seal.

Flame Retardant Neoprene gaskets are grey in colour, can handle continuous temperatures from -40°C to 115°C and subject to more vigorous fire testing ( FMVSS 302, UL94, AFNOR P9750), this makes the material ideal for use within construction and transport applications where a flame-resistant barrier may be required.

EPDM/Neoprene Blend sponge is an extremely versatile material, combining the properties of both types of sponge, excellent weathering and outdoor resistance of EPDM and the oil/chemical resistance of neoprene, making it the ideal choice for many outdoor sealing applications.

Please get in touch if you are unsure which grade of neoprene sponge you require for your gasket or would like samples for your own tests.
