Acoustic Foam Washers
Advanced Seals & Gaskets are leading manufacturers in washers, producing thousands each day in a variety of materials, one of which is Class O acoustic foam. Many of our customers request acoustic foam washers as the foam performs multiple functions at the same time, it filters, cushions, absorbs unwanted excess sound/vibration/rattles, and is flame retardant, these enable acoustic foam to be utilized for various applications.
Using a selection of specialised presses, we are able to produce washers in almost any size and quantity, with a plain or self-adhesive finish and in a loose cut part or kiss cut on sheets/rolls for a more time-efficient application for the end-user. Manufacturing washers in-house allows us to oversee the entire process to ensure that our standards are kept high and lead times low. Class O acoustic foam washers are used in many industries where a flame retardant material with sound/vibration absorption, or thermal insulation properties is required, such as building, construction, marine, and automotive industries
What is acoustic foam?
Class O acoustic foam is just one of many Polyurethane foams offered by ASG, it is an open cell, lightweight foam used for sound control, noise and vibration applications and as thermal insulation material. Rather than totally eliminating sound, acoustic foam serves to reduce unwanted excess noise and echo, by attenuating the sound waves, lowering their amplitude to reduce and control the noise whilst the captured energy from the sound waves is dissipated as heat.
Class O acoustic foam is flame retardant, and meets UL-94 V-0 and BS476 part 6 & 7, it is Non-toxic, HCF & CFC Free, doesn’t support fungal growth, is dust-free making it ideal for marine, building and construction, automotive, heating & Ventilation and manufacturing. Class O acoustic foam is a soft material which is easy to cut and easily manipulated to fit complex shapes and positions for ease of application.

Washers can be used as a gap filler, dust seal, cushion, or spacer. We manufacture washers using an extensive range of materials such as EPDM, neoprene, silicone, solid rubbers, sponge, plastics, polyethylene, PVC, Polyester, cork, textiles, and many more, using specialist machinery including presses and kiss cut machines. Our lamination service also allows us to supply washers in greater thicknesses, with a choice of self-adhesives or foil faces.
Why use Acoustic foam washers?
Class O acoustic foam washers can be found used in many industries including engineering, construction, automotive, and HVAC to name a few. Class O acoustic foam washers are primarily used for noise, echo, and vibration reduction, but also in applications where high performance in fire protection and thermal insulating properties are required.
Many of our customers use acoustic foam washers for padding and cushioning purposes as acoustic foam washers help with the noise reduction of moving parts, as the material will absorb the sounds as well as cushioning and reducing rattling and vibrations. As Class O acoustic foam doesn't shred, migrate or create dust when exposed to high-pressure airflow, it is a popular choice for air conditioning, filtration and ventilation systems.
The durable nature of acoustic foam allows us and customers to cut and shape the material with ease, where they can then be placed within generators, extraction fans, home appliances, etc.
The Advantages of using acoustic foam washers
There are a great many advantages to using acoustic foam washers, these include excellent flammability standards, noise dampening and thermal insulation properties making it perfect for the building and construction industry.
It is also a non-toxic, non-dusting material which doesn’t support fungal growth, perfect for ductwork/ventilation applications and is flexible so can be easily applied to curved or mis-shapen surfaces such as around pipes or inside machinery and vehicles.
Class O acoustic foam as a material helps the automotive and construction industries comply with noise pollution and flame retardant regulations, it is dust-free and does not tear or migrate when exposed to high pressure airflow, it is a popular choice for air conditioning, filtration and ventilation systems.
Benefits of acoustic foam washers
- Grease Resistance
- Non-toxic, HCF & CFC and Dust Free
- Oil Resistant
- Chemical Resistant
- Doesn’t support mildew or fungal growth
Washers can be manufactured in many materials, depending upon the end-users application, a few of which have some acoustic properties. Class O acoustic foam is one of the more popular material choices where a combination of soundproofing and flame retardancy is required. It is a lightweight and flexible material excellent for use with pipework, studio/engine room/automotive insulation, and much more.
