Antivibration Cork Gaskets

Antivibration Cork Gaskets

Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets, we manufacture 1000’s gaskets daily in our newly renovated facilities, these include Anti-Vibration cork gaskets. All our gaskets are manufactured using either our oscillating knife or one of our many presses, depending upon size, thickness, and quantity required, our range of machinery means we can create bespoke cork gaskets to your specified drawing or sample in any quantity quickly and efficiently, which in return passes on a quality product and a cost saving. Cork Gaskets can be manufactured with a plain or self-adhesive finish, as singular cut parts or kiss cut on a roll.  Whether it’s a standard square or more intricate shapes with holes or flanges, we can produce a solution.

What are Anti-Viabration Cork Gaskets?

A gasket can be defined as a sheet of a substance acting as a seal between surfaces in order to prevent leakages of liquid or gas, keep joints air-tight and prevent the intrusion of damaging debris such as dust, making them a significant component of a variety of applications.

Anti-vibration cork gaskets are highly compressible and suitable for low to medium bolt pressure, with excellent durability and flexibility.  Anti-vibration cork is available with a choice of two binders, neoprene, and nitrile rubber, these binders help protect the material when exposed to oils, petrol, and chemicals, this combination of cork and rubber polymer create a strong and resilient material that is exceptional for dampening or eliminating noise and vibrations.

    Why use Anti-Vibration Cork gaskets?

Anti-Vibration cork offers a multitude of solutions including sound absorption, sealing against oil and chemical leaks, and protection for moving parts from abrasive damage.  Anti-vibration cork gaskets can be found used in heavy industrial machinery, railway production, industrial refrigeration, generators, and acoustic suspension buildings.

Anti-vibration cork gaskets help dampen or eliminate the noise and vibrations that are generated from large machinery, these vibrations, if not treated with anti-vibration cork gaskets, can cause damage to building foundations, users hearing and the machine itself which can lead to further dangerous issues.

    Different Grades

Anti-Vibration Cork is available in 2 types, Nitrile or Neoprene bonded, each suited to different applications and environments.

Nitrile bonded cork – this material is manufactured using a combination of cork and nitrile rubber granules, giving a speckled appearance.  Gaskets made from this material can be used where oil and fuel resistance is required, or where high temperature resistance is required, industries include automotive and general engineering.

Neoprene bonded cork – Neoprene bonded cork is a combination of cork and neoprene rubber granules, bound together, with the addition of the Neoprene rubber, the cork is suited to sealing at higher temperatures and resistant to weathering and oil.  Neoprene Bonded cork is suited to oil, engineering, electrical, anti-vibration, and soundproofing applications.

All cork gaskets are durable and resilient to provide a long lasting and strong material.  For further information on the many grades of cork please get in touch with our team.

    • Durable

Advantages of Using Anti-Viabration Cork Gaskets

There are many advantages to using anti-vibration cork as a gasket material, such as noise, vibration dampening, and thermal insulation qualities, it doesn't absorb water or allow for the growth of mould and is naturally flame retardant.

It has excellent longevity and recovery, meaning it is flexible, resilient, and hard wearing, quickly returning to its original shape following compression or subjection to heavyweights and adaptability of cork. Anti-vibration cork also offers a cost-saving aspect to the end users within heavy industrial and engineering applications as the vibration reduction prevents long-term structural damage, therefore, avoiding unnecessary repair expenses.
