Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge Strip

One of most popular products manufactured and supplied by Advanced Seals & Gaskets are cut strips (such as our flame retardant neoprene sponge strips), using a vast range of materials from a multitude of manufacturers and suppliers, which includes flame retardant (FR) neoprene sponge.

Flame retardant neoprene sponge strips (also sometimes called foam strip, gasket strip, gasket tape, isolation strip, weather strip, glazing strip, sealing strips and foam tape) are all manufactured by our highly skilled workforce using state of the art machinery.

By following our customers samples, drawings or given dimensions, we can produce made to measure neoprene sponge strips (FR grade) using our band saws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required. In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high-quality, competitively priced flame retardant neoprene sponge strips.

Our flame retardant neoprene sponge strips are cut from sheets or rolls starting at just 1mm thick, we can produce neoprene sponge strips from just 4mm in width and from a few millimeters long up to 50 meters in length (depending on thickness). During our conversion process, we can laminate layers of neoprene (FR) sponge to produce greater depths and supply the final strips with a plain or self-adhesive backed finish.

What Are Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge Strips?

Flame retardant neoprene sponge can sometimes often be referred to as polychloroprene or CR, it is one of many materials on offer from our vast catalogue. This grey coloured, closed cell, general purpose material which is very versatile and used to manufacture a number of our products. flame retardant neoprene sponge strips are produced from blocks of material which are split down to the required thickness, and then cut into neoprene sponge strips.

ASG can produce neoprene sponge strips in a range of sizes and in any quantity using one of its state of the art machines, a bandsaw would be used for shorter/thicker strips, a log cutter would be used to produce thinner strips in longer lengths in coil/roll form and then the very short /thin strips can be produced using a press or even a kiss-cut machine.

During the manufacturing process, neoprene FR sponge strips can be manufactured with a choice of finishes including foils, self adhesives or laminated with other materials in order to increase the number of mechanical properties of the sponge.

Why Use Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge Strips?

Customers will often choose Flame Retardant Neoprene sponge rubber for the production of their strips as the material has a range of desirable properties which means it can be used within countless applications.

Flame retardant neoprene sponge strips offer a fair resistance to oils, acids and alkalis with good resistance to gases, UV, ozone, weathering and oxidation and its closed cell structure prevents the mould and fungus growth.

It has a wide working temperature range of -40°C to +80℃ and is tested to Flame Resistance FMVSS302 and UL94-HF1 Pass. Flame Retardant Neoprene sponge can be taken in cut strips or in full rolls giving customers the freedom to cut their own flame retardant neoprene sponge strips down as and when required.

Benefits Of Using Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge

    • flame retardant neoprene sponge strips are oil & chemical resistant
    • flame retardant neoprene sponge strips are durable
    • UV, Ozone & weathering resistant
    • Flame retardant
    • Sound/vibration absorbing
    • Closed cell which prevents bacteria & mould growth

Different Types of Neoprene Sponge Available

Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a number of material manufacturers, meaning our customers benefit from a choice of neoprene grades:

Neoprene sponge rubber is a versatile material, featuring good resilience and resistance to UV and ozone. It has a working temperature range of -40ºc to +115ºc, good chemical stability, and good general resistance to oils and petroleum-based fuels.

Firm Grade Neoprene sponge is also closed cell, fire resistance tested to FMVSS 302, and has a density of 180kg (+/- 25), meaning it can be used in more heavy duty applications, where less compression is needed to create a tight seal.

EPDM/Neoprene Blend sponge is an extremely versatile material, combining the properties of both types of sponge, excellent weathering and outdoor resistance of EPDM and the oil/chemical resistance of neoprene, making it the ideal choice for many outdoor sealing applications.

Please get in touch if you are unsure which grade of neoprene sponge you require for your gasket or would like samples for your own tests.

The Advantages of Using Flame Retardant Neoprene Sponge Strips

Sponge strips are often produced using Flame retardant neoprene sponge which is a premium grade material, manufactured to offer all the properties and features of standard neoprene sponge, but also conforms to flammability tests UL94-HF1 and FMVSS302 for use in applications where the risk of fire is present.

The material itself is long lasting, with a wide operating temperature range which can be utilised for many indoor and outdoor applications.

Under minimal compression, neoprene sponge strips will provide an excellent dust, air and watertight seal as well as good resistance against oil. Being a flexible and robust material, neoprene sponge strips are often used in many applications including the production of flame retardant selas, within transport, chemical seals and weather strips.

Flame retardant neoprene sponge is another of ASG’s core materials, held in stock as block, sheet and roll, ready for immediate despatch and conversion.
