Plastic Polypropylene Sheet

One of the thousands of products on offer from Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are a range of plastic sheets, available in numerous grades, colours and thicknesses,  one type being our Plastic Polypropylene Sheets (PP).

Polypropylene (PP) is one of the most commonly used thermoplastics in the world, with parts cut from sheets taking the form of plastic packaging, plastic parts for machinery and equipment.    Polypropylene sheet is available in two versatile grades, PPH (Homopolymer) and PPC (Copolymer), and depending on the grade available in a choice of colours including Natural, Black, White, Beige, and sheets sizes up to 4 metres x 2 metres in size and 200mm in thickness.

Our onsite conversion facilities allow us to machine these sheets of material into a choice of bespoke finished components including washers, gaskets, strips, pads or simply supplied as full sheets.

    What are Plastic Polypropylene Sheets?

Plastic Polypropylene Sheets are a rigid, semi-crystalline thermoplastic meaning it can be melted and reformed repeatedly.

Plastic Polypropylene Sheets are manufactured in sizes up to  sizes up to 4 metres x 2 metres in size and 200mm in thickness as standard and can be found used in a range of domestic and industrial applications.

This versatile thermoplastic and polymer is popular due to its highly flexible properties, lighter density and ability of the sheets to withstand conversion using a range of fabrication techniques, it is often called the ‘steel’ of the plastic industry, as it can be used and manipulated in a number of ways.

    Why use Plastic Polypropylene Sheets?

Sheets of Polypropylene Plastics are a tough, flexible and durable material offering excellent fatigue resistance and elasticity.  The material has high insulation properties making it safe to use for the production of plastic casings in electrical goods and cables.

Plastic Polypropylene Sheets and components cut from them can be found used widely within the automotive and medical industries with the waterproof properties making them effective for the marine sector.   Some of the other excellent characteristics of Plastic Polypropylene Sheets include it’s chemical resistance, fatigue resistance and its transmissibility where the transfer of light or visibility are important.  Plastic Polypropylene Sheets are resilient to general wear and tear and ideal for items that must undergo higher levels of physical stress, they are also resilient against mildew, mould, rot and bacteria, usually FDA approved offering a working temperature range of  -20°C up to +80°C.

    Other types of Plastic available

    • Nylatron

Benefits of using Plastic Polypropylene Sheets

    • Can be manufactured in a range of transparent colours
    • Resistant to chemicals including Diluted bases and acids
    • Flame retardant
    • Strong, Durable and Impact resistant
    • Weather resistant
    • Good machinability

Advantages of using Plastic Polypropylene Sheets

Sheets of Polypropylene come in a range of sizes and colours, all of which can be used to convert into small finished components.   Polypropylene sheets can be taken in full for customer or end users to cut down to suit or alternatively we can convert the sheet into the finished products, both of which offer users a number of excellent properties and bring many advantages to using them.

Polypropylene sheets offer excellent fatigue resistance, elasticity, strength and durability making it perfect for use in a wide range of industries and applications.   Polypropylene Plastics have high insulation properties making it safe for use as casings for cables and electrical products.

It is so strong, Polypropylene components can be twisted 360 degrees without snapping therefore these sheets are perfect for cutting into hinges and other fixtures where there is exposure to bending and manipulation.

Polypropylene sheets are waterproof and extremely resistant to moisture absorption, which is why it can often be found used in the production of packaging material.  Its high resistance to chemical corrosion makes it a popular choice of packaging for cleaning products, bleaches, first-aid products and medicines and for use within the machinery or equipment used in their production and processing.

Polypropylene sheets can be manufactured in a broad spectrum of colours in a transparent or opaque finish again which is another feature needed when used for packaging where the contents need to be visible.  They are cheap to manufacture therefore great for the production of mass-produced products or disposables.
