Conductive Silicone Rolls

Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd we offer a number of high quality solid rubber materials in roll form, including various grades of silicone.  One of our more specialised grades is Conductive Silicone Rolls, the material is mainly used where a low amperage conductor is required, often utilised  for Radio Frequency Interference and Electromagnetic Interference shielding (RFI/EMI), whilst also providing protection against electrostatic discharge.

RFI/EMI Conductive Silicone Rubber is manufactured in thicknesses of 1.6mm, 2mm and 3.2mm at 915mm wide, and supplied in 1 meter widths up to 10 meters long, which can be cut down into smaller components using our selection of state of the art conversion machinery housed here on-site.  We are able to take these sheets and rolls of raw material, and cut them in various parts including cut strip, pads, washers and gaskets for use in a multitude of applications.

    What are Conductive Silicone Rolls?

Conductive Silicone Rubber rolls are just one of many special types of material supplied and converted here at ASG, producing components which can be used for RFI/EMI applications.  Conductive Silicone Rubber is a carbon filled silicone material that acts as a low amp conductor, often used for the prevention and protection of static charge (electrostatic discharge) build up.  The generic term often used to describe a rubber material with conductive properties is ‘conductive rubber’.

These rolls of material and products cut from them are used for the purpose of eliminating electromagnetic interference and radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI noise) often found in electronics.   Conductive Silicone rubber is often taken in roll form giving customers the flexibility to convert them into a range of usable products as required such as washers, pads, strips, etc.

    Why use Conductive Silicone Rolls?

Conductive silicone rubber is made using the same base compound and formulation as standard silicone rubber, but incorporates conductive carbon particles throughout the material.  As with standard silicone rubber rolls, Conductive Silicone rolls are an excellent material for producing high performance mechanicals sealing products such as washers and gaskets which can operate at high and low temperatures.

Conductive silicone rolls also offer weathering, UV and Ozone resistance and a wide operating temperature range of -54°C to + 260°, making it suitable for a range of industries and applications including electronic enclosure shielding, and connectors in medical, defence, aerospace and telecommunications.

Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber rolls can be used to cover large surface areas, to cut and form into sleeves or used for converting into small cut components.

    Different Grades

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd have a network of material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice, our most popular grades being:

    • High Temperature Silicone
    • FDA Approved Silicone
    • Metal Detectable Silicone
    • Fluorosilicone
    • Platinum cured Silicone

Benefits of Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber?

    • High quality
    • Protection against electro-static discharge
    • Offers weathering, UV and Ozone resistance
    • Highly flexible
    • Wide operating temperature range

Advantages of using Conductive Silicone Rolls?

Customers often choose RFI/EMI Conductive Silicone rolls as they have a number of excellent characteristics and features, suitable for indoor and outdoor use.  Conductive Silicone rubber has a broad working temperature range of  -54°C to + 260°C for use in hot and cold environments meaning it will not become brittle in freezing temperatures unlike many other rubber materials.

These rolls are resistant to weathering, ozone, many chemicals and fungal growth and offers excellent tensile strength and tear resistance.  Conductive Silicone rubber rolls are stocked in various thicknesses ready to be shipped as a complete roll, cut into sheets or cut down into smaller components.

Conductive silicone rolls are made from an RFI/EMI/EMC shielding material and can be found used in many applications and industries where electro-static shielding is required including military, defence, medical and telecommunications in the form of enclosure seals, covers, door seals, sleeves and isolation barriers.
