Slow Recovery PVC Foam Strip

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd manufacture cut strips in the thousands on a daily basis, working with a multitude of reputable material manufacturers and suppliers, enabling us to offer strips made using a range of materials in many grades, densities and colours.    One range of materials we can use to convert into strips includes various grades of PVC Foam such as a Slow Recovery variant.   Slow Recovery PVC is a closed-cell, low-density foam which has a number of excellent characteristics and properties, used widely for sealing and insulation.  Slow Recovery PVC Foam is manufactured and stocked in roll form with a choice of thicknesses between 2mm and 20mm, roll widths of 1 meter or 1.4 meters and rolls lengths of up to 130 metres long depending on the thickness, which can be used to convert in strips, also called sealing strips, gasket tapes, foam tapes or PVC foam tapes.  By following customers' dimensions, drawings or samples, we can produce bespoke sized Slow Recovery PVC Foam Strips using a choice of bandsaws, strippers, log cutter and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required.  In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process ensuring we consistently produce high quality, competitively priced strips.  Our Slow Recovery PVC foam strips can be cut from 2 metre or 1 metre long sheets or continuous rolls, in widths starting at around 4mm wide, all manufactured with a choice of self-adhesive tapes or foils in lengths of just a few centimetres long to continuous lengths in coil form.

What are Slow Recovery PVC Foam Strips?

Slow Recovery PVC Foam is made up of PVC and Polyurea compounds which are combined, heated until the mixture expands and then cured, creating a closed cell, low density foam rolls and sheets of material.   Slow Recovery PVC Foam as the name suggests ‘recovers’ slowly following compression which means these strips can be carefully and accurately positioned when used for air, dust and liquid sealing.  Slow Recovery PVC Foam Strips are cut from sheets or rolls of material to order, meaning we can supply them to meet your exact specifications in terms of lead time, size and finish.

Why use Slow Recovery PVC Foam Strips?

Foam strips are often used in the same way as gaskets, whereby they can be used for noise and vibration control applications, insulations, as a gasket where they are placed between two surfaces to create a low pressure seal.  Slow Recovery PVC Foam strips offer many of the excellent properties of the other PVC Foam  grades which include UV resistance, low level water absorption, dimensional stability and is used to construct seals against air, dust and liquids, but also offers slower recovery following compression.  PVC Foam strips are lightweight, flame retardant and durable,  with the Slow  Recovery feature making it perfect for use as seals where there are irregular shaped gaps or surfaces which will take longer to manipulate to fit into position.

Advantages of using Slow Recovery PVC Foam Strips

Strips made using Slow Recovery PVC Foam offer countless advantages over other foams including good acoustic, flammability properties and resistance to ozone, UV,  rot and mould growth and solvents making them popular for use in sealing, insulation, anti-vibration, cushioning and filtration applications such as rooflight seals, door or draft excluding seals,  glazing strips and refrigeration seals.  The reduced recovery time of the material allows the strips to be used to create a tight fitting and secure seal as it allows the user time to manipulate and fit the seal into position before it bounces back to its original shape and thickness.  Slow Recovery PVC is available in a range of pre-manufactured thicknesses, ready to be shipped or cut down strips and tapes where they are utilised in the automotive, construction, electronics, HVAC and stationery industries.
