Applications:

  • Automotive and Transportation: Nitrile Insertion Seals are extensively used in automotive components like engines, transmissions, and fuel systems, providing reliable sealing in the presence of oil and fuel.
  • Industrial Machinery: These seals are vital for machinery and equipment that require dependable sealing against oil, dust, and contaminants, reducing the risk of leaks and contamination.
  • Manufacturing: Nitrile Insertion Seals find application in manufacturing processes that involve oil-based fluids, chemicals, and environmental elements that could compromise sealing integrity.
  • Oil and Gas Industry: These seals are valuable in the oil and gas sector, providing reliable sealing solutions for equipment exposed to petroleum-based fluids.
  • Agricultural Machinery: Nitrile Insertion Seals play a role in agricultural machinery, where resistance to oil and chemicals is essential for maintaining operational efficiency.

At Advanced Seals and Gaskets, we prioritize innovation and performance in our Nitrile Insertion Seals. Their enhanced strength and oil resistance make them invaluable in industries where durability and sealing effectiveness are paramount. Choose Advanced Seals and Gaskets' Nitrile Insertion Seals to elevate your industrial processes with top-tier sealing solutions that offer exceptional durability and reliability, particularly in environments where oil exposure is a concern.

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are recognised as one of the UK’s leading suppliers of high quality seals, manufactured using various types of solid rubber, including Nitrile Insertion rubber. Nitrile insertion seals can take the form of gaskets, washers, O-rings, cord and extrusions, which are all designed for the purpose of preventing leaks or the ingress of air, fluids and gas. All our nitrile insertion rubber seals are made to order  and are based on samples or drawings provided by customers to ensure the final product perfectly fits the application.

As each form of seal needs to be manufactured using a different process, ASG have invested heavily  in various machinery meaning we can supply both high and low volumes in the most cost effective way. Nitrile insertion rubber seals are primarily used in sealing applications in the automotive, aerospace and petrochemical industries, however have poor resistance to ozone and weathering, so are not recommended for outdoor use.

What are Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Seals?

A ‘seal’ is the generic term for products often taking the form of cut gaskets, strips, washers, extruded profiles and cord, all designed to prevent leaks or ingress of unwanted air, gasses, dust or moisture.  Nitrile rubber can also be referred to as Nitrile butadiene or NBR rubber, which is a synthetic rubber produced from a copolymer of acrylonitrile (ACN) and butadiene, solid nitrile insertion rubber is a manufactured to the same specification as standard nitrile rubber giving the seals the same excellent properties, but with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre which is referred to as the ‘insertion’, used to prevent the material from stretching, therefore increasing its wear and tear resistance.

Why use Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Seals?

Solid Nitrile Insertion rubber seals can take many forms as profiles, all produced using the exact same material, but using a different process or machine. Nitrile insertion seals are used as they offer a countless number of excellent properties and are excellent for using as air, dust and water tight seals. They have an excellent tensile strength, anti- abrasion properties and resistance to petrol, mineral & vegetable oils and some acids and alkalis.

The material also has some flame retardancy, and a working temperature range of -20°C to +70℃, usually manufactured in a 65°shore hardness (the shore hardness is measured using a shore durometer which indicates the level of resistance to indentation ,the higher number on the scale indicate a greater resistance - harder the material/lower number indicate less resistance- softer the material).

    Different Grades of Insertion Rubber

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd have a network of material suppliers and manufacturers, meaning we have access to various grades of insertion rubber which include:

SBR Insertion rubber (Styrene-butadiene rubber) is a cost effective, commercial grade, general purpose rubber with good abrasion resistance, tensile strength and low compression set. SBR rubber is not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons

Neoprene insertion rubber (CR) Solid Neoprene is one of our most popular solid rubber materials, with various thicknesses held in stock. Neoprene is suitable for use where there is exposure to grease, oil, acids, ozone and even sea water.

Solid EPDM insertion rubber (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) another very popular solid rubber is great for use in outdoor applications. This material is resistant to water, UV, ozone, weather, abrasion, alkalines, ketones and diluted acids.

Benefits Of Using Nitrile Insertion Seals:

    • Resistant to many chemicals and solvents
    • Suitable for automotive industries
    • Water, mineral oil, petrol  resistance.
    • Can be formed into complex seals and extrusions
    • Abrasive resistant and excellent mechanical strength
    • Excellent seal against gasses
    • Tear and stretch resistance

Advantages of using Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Seals

Solid Nitrile insertion rubber seals can take countless forms, but all possess the same mechanical properties making it popular across many industries. Solid Nitrile Insertion rubber seals are mainly used due to the materials resistance to ‘swell’ when exposed to oils and fuel, therefore holding its sealing capabilities and not breaking down, making it a popular choice for the production of automotive sealing, abrasive applications, flange gaskets on pipes and tanks, oil and fuel seals, insulating and isolation barriers.

Industries where these seals can be found include mining, quarrying, construction, automotive, oil, gas, defence, etc. Seals are generally cut from rolls or sheets produced at standard thicknesses, meaning they can usually be turned around within a fairly minimal lead time as there is no need for the material to be split to thickness.
