    What is Leather?

Our leather gaskets are made from tanned cattle hide and are available in a variety of sizes and thicknesses. During processing, the leather is made stable and neutralised from the risk of putrefaction; this ensures that the leather gaskets are fit for purpose and long lasting.

As a rigid and rugged material, leather has a high tensile strength and is resistant to flex, tears, and punctures. Leather is normally skived on one side and therefore appears dark brown or black. However, our gaskets can be supplied in a variety of other colours on the opposite side. Our leather products should be oiled to preserve their lifespan.

    Why use Leather Gaskets?

The purpose of a gasket is to fill gaps and irregularities between 2 surfaces and provide a solution to unwanted noise and vibrations or to seal against air, gas, dust and liquids. They can also be used to cushion moving parts to reduce friction and damage.

There are many advantages to using leather for gaskets including its durability, water resistance and ability to withstand heavy amounts of torque and manipulation.
