GA25 Chemically Cross Linked Polyethylene Foam Strip

At Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd foam strips are one of the most popular products we manufacture, sometimes called foam strips, foam tapes, gasket strips or gasket tapes. One such product we can offer is chemically cross-linked polyethylene foam strips. Chemically cross-linked polyethylene foam is manufactured in 3 forms, firstly in sheets without laminations, secondly in sheet form made up of laminated to thickness using multiple sheets and finally in continuous rolls in various lengths depending on thickness, all of which can be used to convert into cross linked polyethylene foam strips.

By following our customer's samples, drawings or given dimensions, we can produce chemically cross-linked polyethylene foam strips using our bandsaws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity of cross linked polyethylene foam strips required. In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality, competitive prices cross linked polyethylene foam strips.

Our chemically cross linked polyethylene foam strips are cut from sheets or rolls split down to thicknesses starting at just 1mm thick, we can produce strips from 4mm in width and from a few millimetres long up to 50 meters in length (depending on thickness).  During the conversion process, we can laminate layers of GA25 foam material to produce greater depths or supply them plainly, laminated with a choice of self-adhesive foils or even other materials.

What are Chemically Cross Linked Polyethylene Foam Strips?

Chemically crosslinked polyethylene foam or XLPE is just one of many types of polyethylene foams ASG can offer. This grade is manufactured using raw low-density polyethylene, which is heated up causing it to foam before it is extruded creating a ‘honeycomb’ type cell structure.

Chemically cross-linked PE foam can be manufactured (extruded) as sheets or ‘planks’ with or without laminations, all of which can be split down, laminated to achieve greater thicknesses, laminated to other materials to create composite materials and supplied in a plain or self-adhesive backed finish from which strips can be cut.

GA25 chemically cross-linked PE foam strips are cut lengths or coils of material cut from rolls or sheets of material often used in the same way as a gasket, whereby they are used to create a seal between uneven surfaces and fill irregularities.

Why use Chemically Cross Linked Polyethylene Foam Strips?

Chemically cross-linked polyethylene foam strips can be found used in many applications including sports and leisure, healthcare, transport building, marine and more popular HVAC flange gaskets and as double-sided mounting sticky tapes. This material is a very tough, lightweight and long-lasting material.

The material is manufactured by way of extrusion, therefore has a rougher outside ‘skin’ which adds to its strength and makes it resistant to damage caused by water, air or sunlight.

XLPE foam strips can be used as insulation as they offer low thermal transmission and also as shock absorption foam, ideal for packaging.  For use with electronics, an anti-static compound can also be added.

    Different Types Available

Having a network of manufacturers and suppliers, allows ASG to offer a full range of polyethylene materials, many of which are readily available from stock for a quick turnaround.  Below is just a selection of some of our popular polyethylene material types we can offer:

    • Alveo
    • Anti-static
    • Ethafoam
    • Eva foam
    • Flame retardant
    • Plastazote
    • Stratocell

The Advantages of Using Chemically Cross Linked Polyethylene Foam Strips

XLPE (Chemically cross-linked polyethylene) offers a number of desirable properties, it's a very tough, lightweight and long-lasting material. The materials are manufactured using extrusion methods which creates a rougher outside ‘skin’ which adds to its strength and makes it resistant to damage caused by water, air or sunlight.

XLPE foam strips can be used as insulation as they offer low thermal transmission and also as shock absorption foam, ideal for packaging.  If the strips are going to be used with electronics, an anti-static compound can also be added.

Chemically cross-linked polyethylene sheets are easy to cut and convert into a range of other products including strips and tapes, for use in a range of industries such as construction, HVAC and packaging to name a few.

Benefits of Using Chemically Cross Linked Polyethylene Foam Strips

    • Thermal and acoustic insulation
    • Durability
    • Resistance to water, air or sunlight
    • Resistance to chemicals and fluids
    • Used for shock absorption or buoyancy
    • Light weight
    • Cutting and strip conversion  is easy
