RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Silicone Pads

RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Silicone Pads

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd produce an extensive range of cut pads using selection of sponge and foam materials, Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd also offer a vast range of high quality solid rubber pads, including those cut using  various grades of silicone.

One such grade is our RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Silicone Pads. This particular material will act as a low amperage conductor making it highly utilised for Radio Frequency Interference and Electromagnetic Interference shielding (RFI/EMI), whilst also providing protection against electrostatic discharge.  RFI/EMI Conductive Silicone Rubber is manufactured in thicknesses of 1.6mm, 2mm and 3.2mm at 915mm wide, and supplied in 1 meter widths up to 10 meters long, which can be cut down into smaller components using our selection of state of the art conversion machinery housed here on-site.  We are able to take these sheets and rolls of raw material, and cut them in various parts including cut strip, pads, washers and gaskets for use in a multitude of applications.

What are RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Silicone Pads?

Conductive Silicone Rubber can be taken in full sheets or rolls of material, it is just one of many special types of material supplied and converted here at ASG, which can be used for RFI/EMI applications.   Using this selection of in-house machinery ASG  can produce square or rectangular pads with the option of radius corners, and also as circular or oval shaped pads or ‘discs’,  in a range of thicknesses.

Manufacturing pads in-house means we can offer the option to supply them in a plain or self adhesive backed finish and even laminate multiple types of material together to create bespoke and unique variations.   These pads are made from a material which is a carbon filled silicone; they act as a low amp conductor and are often used for the prevention and protection of static charge (electrostatic discharge) build up.

The generic term often used to describe a rubber material with conductive properties is ‘conductive rubber’.  These materials and products are used for the purpose of eliminating electromagnetic interference and radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI noise) often found in electronics.

Why use RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Silicone Pads?

RFI/EMI Conductive Silicone Pads are an excellent product for use as  gap fillers, gaskets and insulation.   Electrically conductive silicone rubber is made using the same formulation as standard silicone rubber, but incorporating conductive carbon particles throughout the material.

RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Silicone Pads offer weathering, UV and Ozone resistance and a wide operating temperature range of -54°C to + 260°, making them suitable for a range of industries and applications including electronic enclosure shielding, and connectors in medical, defence, aerospace and telecommunications.

Conductive Silicone Rubber can be taken in bespoke cut pads or alternatively can be taken in full sheets or rolls where the end user can cut them down to size as when required at a later date.

Other Grades of Silicone Rubber Available

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd have a network of material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice, our most popular grades being:

    • High Temperature Silicone
    • FDA Approved Silicone
    • Metal Detectable Silicone
    • Fluorosilicone
    • Platinum cured Silicone

Benefits of Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber?

    • High quality
    • Protection against electro-static discharge
    • Offers weathering, UV and Ozone resistance
    • Highly flexible
    • Wide operating temperature range

Advantages of using RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Silicone Pads?

For many electrical applications, customers will often choose pads made from Conductive Silicone rubber as they have a number of  excellent characteristics and features and are suitable for indoor or outdoor use.

RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Silicone Pads have a broad working temperature range of  -54°C to + 260°C for use in hot and cold environments and will not become brittle in freezing temperatures unlike many other rubber materials.  It is resistant to weathering, ozone, many chemicals and  fungal growth and offers excellent tensile strength and tear resistance.

Conductive silicone rubber can be found used in many applications and industries where electro-static (emi/rfi/emc) shielding is required including military, defence, medical and telecommunications in the form of enclosure seals, covers, door seals, sleeves and isolation barriers.
