Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd manufacture and supply a diverse range of Oriented Wire products.

Oriented Wire is a composite gasket material made up of a large number of small wires embedded and bonded in solid or sponge silicone, or fluorosilicone (where oil resistance is required). Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are able to manufacture a wide variety of gasket products from Oriented Wires however, it can also be available as sheet or strip material upon request

Oriented Wire shielding can be supplied plain or with a self-adhesive backing. Although this material is predominantly supplied as cut gaskets, it can also be available as sheet or strip material upon request. It provides excellent conductivity and used where products require EMI grounding, static discharge or a pressure seal. This material is used within the military and within industrial and commercial products.

Key Characteristics of RFI/EMI/EMC Orientated Wire:

  • Temperatures up to 220°C
  • High shielding performance
  • Solid silicone is used where higher compression is required
  • Silicone Sponge is used if a lower compression is required
  • Fluorosilicone Rubber is available for use in environments where fuels, hydraulic fluids and oils are present
  • Long service life

What are Acoustic Oriented Wire ?

In the realm of materials and engineering, oriented wire plays a pivotal role in diverse applications, offering unique properties and advantages. This article provides an insight into what oriented wire is, why it is employed, the benefits it offers, and the distinct advantages it brings to various industries.

    What is Oriented Wire?

Oriented wire, also known as aligned wire or directional wire, is a specialized type of wire that has been mechanically or chemically treated to align its molecular or crystalline structure in a specific direction. This alignment imparts unique properties to the wire, making it ideal for various applications where strength, conductivity, and control are essential.

The orientation process typically involves drawing, rolling, or heat treatment, depending on the material and the desired properties. Metals such as steel, aluminum, and copper are often subjected to orientation processes, and non-metal materials like polymers and composites can also undergo orientation.

    Why use Acoustic Oriented Wire

Enhanced Strength: Oriented wire exhibits superior tensile strength compared to non-oriented wire. This makes it suitable for applications where structural integrity is crucial.

Improved Conductivity: In the case of conductive materials like copper, oriented wire exhibits enhanced electrical conductivity. It is used in electrical and electronic applications to ensure efficient current flow.

Controlled Properties: The orientation process allows for precise control over the material's properties, such as tensile strength, ductility, and conductivity, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.

Reduced Material Usage: Oriented wire's increased strength allows for the use of less material while achieving the same or higher performance, resulting in cost savings and reduced environmental impact.

    Benefits of Oriented Wire

    Enhanced Strength
Oriented wire's aligned molecular or crystalline structure results in improved tensile strength, providing mechanical robustness and durability in applications.

    Improved Conductivity
In the case of conductive materials like copper, oriented wire offers better electrical conductivity, ensuring efficient and reliable current transmission in electrical and electronic systems.

    Tailored Properties
The orientation process allows for tailored properties, enabling manufacturers to customize wire for specific applications, whether it's for structural components or electrical conductors.

    Weight Reduction
Oriented wire's increased strength enables weight reduction in applications where weight is a critical factor, such as aerospace and automotive components.

    Energy Efficiency
In electrical applications, the improved conductivity of oriented wire contributes to energy efficiency, reducing energy losses in electrical transmission

    Advantages of Using Oriented Wire

Acoustic foam gaskets hold various advantageous properties that are highly utilizable in a variety of industries.

The greatest advantage of using acoustic foam gaskets is the exceptional noise dampening capabilities of the material. As acoustic foam is an open cell material it is highly effective at absorbing sounds as well as cushioning and padding.

Acoustic foam gaskets commonly used as the material performs multiple functions at the same time, while the acoustic foam gasket is applied for cushioning the material will also absorb sound waves dampening the noise.
