Food Quality Nitrile Rubber Sheet
At Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, we supply a wide range of high-quality solid rubber materials, including food-quality solid nitrile rubber (NBR), available in blue and white. These materials are used to manufacture food-grade solid nitrile rubber sheets for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries.
Food-grade solid nitrile rubber is manufactured in roll form, typically 1.4 meters wide by 10 meters long, with a starting thickness of 1mm. These rolls can be cut down into sheets at 1-meter or 2-meter lengths, providing convenient sizes for easier handling, storage, and on-site usage.
Our in-house conversion and laminating facilities allow us to produce custom sheets, gaskets, strips, washers, and pads, with options for self-adhesive or foil facings depending on the application.
What are Food Quality Solid Nitrile Rubber Sheets?
Food-grade nitrile rubber is a tasteless, odourless synthetic material available in blue or white and specifically formulated for use in food, drink, and pharmaceutical processing.
The material is supplied in rolls, but can be converted into sheets for customers requiring smaller quantities or easier transport. It provides excellent resistance to animal fats, vegetable oils, fish oils, and greases and offers higher tensile strength and thermal resistance than standard nitrile grades.

Why Use Food Quality Solid Nitrile Rubber Sheets?
These sheets are FDA-compliant, ensuring they are safe for use in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications. The colour coding (blue or white) helps detect contaminants while protecting ingredients from taste or odour transfer.
Food quality nitrile rubber sheets are water-resistant, preventing mould growth, and exhibit high resistance to temperature, oils, and chemicals.
Benefits of Food Quality Nitrile Rubber Sheets
- Resistant to water, oils, petrol, and abrasion
- Can be formed into complex seals and extrusions
- Wide working temperature range
- Resistant to animal, fish, and vegetable oils and greases
- Tasteless and odourless, preventing contamination
- Ideal for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical processing and packaging
Advantages of Using Food Quality Nitrile Rubber Sheets
Food-quality nitrile rubber sheets offer reliable performance and safety for food-contact applications. ASG can supply full sheets for customer conversion or cut-to-size products, including gaskets, strips, washers, and pads in blue or white.
The material provides excellent mechanical strength, abrasion and temperature resistance, and conforms to EC and FDA regulations. Typical applications include food processing machinery belts, seals, gaskets, protective pads, tubes, and sleeves.
Different Grades of Solid Nitrile Rubber
ASG works with a network of manufacturers, allowing us to supply a variety of nitrile rubber grades:
- Standard Solid Nitrile Rubber (NBR): Synthetic rubber with good tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and resistance to petrol, mineral oils, vegetable oils, some acids and alkalis. Suitable for fuel hoses, automotive seals, gaskets, and rollers. Operating range: -20°C to +70°C.
- BS 2751 Nitrile Rubber: High-quality synthetic elastomer with improved elongation, tensile strength, and temperature range (-30°C to +110°C). Available in hardnesses 40° to 80°.
- Blue Metal Detectable Nitrile Rubber: Contains additives detectable by metal detectors, making it ideal for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications to minimise contamination risks.
- Blue Food Quality (FDA) Nitrile Rubber: Meets EC and FDA regulations, is resistant to animal fats, fish oils, and vegetable oils, and provides enhanced visibility in food processing, where white rubber may be harder to detect.
