30PPI Reticulated Polyurethane Foam

30PPI Reticulated Polyurethane Foam

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd stocks and converts 30ppi Reticulated Polyurethane foam, also known as 'Filter foam' or Skeletal Foam, due to its open cellular structure. These foams are characterized by a net-like appearance, especially those between 10ppi and 30ppi where the holes are larger. These holes are referred to as 'pores,' and the material grade depends on the number and size of these pores within a square inch of material, denoted as PPI (pores per inch). Pore sizes range from 10PPI, a coarse grade, to 100PPI, featuring a more compact structure and a softer texture.

30PPI reticulated foam is initially manufactured in large blocks or 'buns,' held in stock for further processing into sheets or continuous lengths and rolls. Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd leverages in-house conversion facilities to create 30PPI reticulated foam products, starting at a minimum thickness of 5mm. These products can take the form of sheets, rolls, or finished cut items like gaskets, washers, pads, and strips, offering versatility in plain or coated finishes with various foils or self-adhesives. Additionally, they can be laminated with other materials to construct composites, expanding their utility across numerous applications.

What is 30PPI Reticulated Polyurethane Foam?

The term "Reticulated" alludes to a net-like appearance, precisely describing the visual and textural characteristics of 30PPI reticulated foam. This foam exhibits a coarse texture and an open-cell structure achieved through a blowing method that generates bubbles, resulting in a material with uniform and homogeneous cells.

30PPI reticulated foam is distinguished by its relatively low number of large-sized pores, constituting a structure that functions as a quick-drying foam. This foam acts like a sieve, permitting the free flow of air and liquids while effectively capturing larger particles.

Furthermore, 30PPI Retic foam is lightweight and features completely open cells, resembling a skeletal, mesh-like structure that excels in trapping dust and particles. Its unique attributes make it an ideal choice for applications requiring efficient filtration and separation.

Why use 30PPI Reticulated Polyurethane Foam?

30PPI Reticulated PU Foams surpass paper or cotton filters and liners in efficiency with remarkable water resistance, making them ideal for both air and moisture filtration. This coarse-grade foam exhibits high surface area and porosity, rendering it an excellent choice for applications demanding sound absorption, cushioning, and vibration damping.

Furthermore, this foam density is commonly employed in gasketing and sealing applications where low air permeability is a prerequisite. While 30PPI remains a relatively open-cell material, it can be readily compressed, reducing the passage of air and liquid while enhancing dust and debris capture. Its adaptability and performance make it an invaluable asset in various industries and applications.

Advantages of using 30PPI Reticulated Polyurethane Foam

30PPI Reticulated Foams offer a multitude of reasons for their usage, such as excellent chemical and fuel resistance, along with commendable elongation and tear strength properties, rendering them suitable for diverse industries and applications.

Due to the cellular, soft nature of 30PPI Retic foam, when subjected to pressure, the compressed material acquires a new range of properties. This transformation affects its breathability, porosity, the rate at which liquids and air can pass through, and the efficiency of capturing waste, dust, and debris. Its net-like structure acts as a sieve, ensuring it doesn't absorb water and dries quickly, making it a durable and reusable choice ideal for wet applications like outdoor furniture seating, boat seating, and components within appliances such as washing machines and vacuum cleaners.

Our reticulated foams not only come in various PPIs but can also be manufactured as an FR (flame retardant) grade, compliant with FMVSS302 standards. This makes them suitable for demanding applications and environments. Reticulated PU foams are available in diverse densities, pore sizes, and colors, and can be shaped into numerous profiles, including die-cut parts, egg-box profiles, and glued tubes and cylinders.

These filter foams resist mild acids, alkalis, saltwater, fuel, organic chemicals, oils, lubricants, soaps, and detergents. Moreover, 30PPI reticulated foam finds utility in air and water filtration, sound absorption, fluid management in cosmetic and medical applications, and as a cleaning product for scrubbing and wiping. Its adaptability and versatile characteristics ensure it caters to an extensive range of needs in various industries and applications.
