Polyethylene Foam (60kg)

60kg polyethylene foam

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd work with a multitude of reputable material manufacturers and suppliers, enabling us to offer a range of materials in many grades, densities and colours. One of the more popular materials includes various types of Polyethylene (PE) foam, one of which includes Expanded Closed Cell Cross-Linked Polyethylene foam in a 60kg density or ‘block foam’ as it is sometimes referred to.

60kg polyethylene foam is manufactured and stocked in block form from which we can convert sheets and rolls of various thicknesses. As we offer in-house conversion and lamination services, we can not only split materials down, but we can also laminate layers together and apply self-adhesives or foil facings.

Our onsite facilities consist of a number of presses, log cutters, strippers, bandsaws and CNC machines from which we can produce a number of 60kg polyethylene foam products including gaskets, washers, strips, pads and fabrications.

What is Polyethylene (60kg) Foam?

60kg polyethylene foam is a chemically cross-linked PE foam, which is part of the Thermoplastic foam family, which has a small, uniform, closed-cell structure. 60kg polyethylene foam is impermeable to liquid, gases and particles, creating an effective seal.  The cross-linking process forms bonds between the polymer chains, creating the 3D structure and giving the material improved compression strength, compression set, thermal stability and tensile strength.

    Why use 60kg Polyethylene Foam?

60Kg Polyethylene foam is a soft, lightweight foam with a closed-cell, uniform cell structure that can be used to seal against liquid, gases and particles,  which is not only denser than the 24Kg and 30Kg materials but is also firmer, stronger and more rigid so can be cut and sawn into shape.

60kg polyethylene foam has a number of desirable properties including resistance to wear and tear, Ozone, UV and a working temperature range of -60°C - +90°C. It also offers excellent mechanical characteristics including noise and vibration control and can be used for thermal insulation.

Advantages of using Polyethylene (60Kg) Foam

Using 60kg polyethylene foam offers countless advantages and is highly utilised in numerous industries and applications from gaskets to theatre and production props.   Polyethylene foam is a man-made material, designed to suit a range of requirements and is available in a choice of grades, densities and colours.

The PE closed-cell structure can be used in sealing applications against liquid, gases and particles.  Polyethylene foam with a density of 60kG also has a number of desirable properties including a high resistance to wear and tear, Ozone, UV, resilience to repeated impact and a working temperature range of -60°C to +90°C. It also offers excellent mechanical characteristics including noise and vibration control, for shock absorption and can be used for thermal insulation.

60kg polyethylene foam is aesthetically pleasing, with a nice texture that is easy to fabricate, laminated and cut into parts using a range of techniques and processes for use within the theatrics, building and construction, HVAC, automotive and sports industries.
