Food Quality Solid Neoprene Rubber
Food Quality Solid Neoprene Rubber
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd stock a diverse range of neoprene rubber materials one of which is Food Quality Neoprene Rubber. This material is manufactured in roll form at 1.4meters wide x 10meters long and in thicknesses starting at 1mm, which can be supplied by ASG in full rolls, sheets or cut parts such as gaskets, strips or pads, with a choice of self-adhesive or foil backings.
Food Quality Neoprene Rubber has many excellent properties making it suitable for use within the pharmaceutical industry, in high-temperature food applications and where there will be contact with greases and animal/vegetable fats.
What is Food Quality Solid Neoprene Rubber?
Food Quality Neoprene Rubber is a synthetic, white coloured, tasteless and odourless material that is used within the food, drink and pharmaceutical industries. The bright colour allows for easy visibility of dirt or materials that may contaminate foods or drinks during production or packaging and can be used in high-temperature applications and where there will be contact with greases and animal/vegetable fats.

Why use Food Quality Solid Neoprene Rubber?
Food quality solid neoprene rubber is a high-quality material formulated to conform to FDA standards (Food and Drug Administration). By meeting these standards, we can ensure the material is safe for use in food, drink and pharmaceutical applications, where its colour helps with the detection of dirt and foreign bodies whilst protecting the ingredients from taste and odour contamination. Food quality neoprene water-resistant and therefore does not support mould growth, it also offers resistance to high temperatures, oil and many chemicals.
Different Grades of Solid Neoprene
As ASG works with a network of material manufacturers and suppliers, we are able to offer customers a choice of neoprene rubber types to choose from, some of the most popular include:
Neoprene (CR) is one of our most popular solid rubber materials, with various thicknesses held in stock. Neoprene is suitable for use where there is exposure to grease, oil, acids, ozone and even seawater. Available in shore hardnesses of 40° – 80° Shore.
Flame retardant neoprene rubber sheets can handle continuous temperatures of -30°C to +100°C, this material meets the test requirements of the flammability standard UL94-V0 and is in line with ISO 340. Flame retardant neoprene rubber sheets are also tested in accordance with anti-static BS 490.
Neoprene insertion rubber (CR) Solid Neoprene is one of our most popular solid rubber materials, with various thicknesses held in stock. Neoprene is suitable for use where there is exposure to grease, oil, acids, ozone and even seawater.
Benefits of Using Food Quality Solid Neoprene Rubber
- Suitable for food, drink and pharmaceutical applications
- Durable even at high temperatures
- Impermeable to water therefore will not allow for mould growth
- Resistant to greases and animal/vegetable fat
- Good mechanical strength
Advantages of Using Food Quality Solid Neoprene Rubber
Food quality neoprene (CR) rubber demonstrates the same chemical characteristics as a standard grade neoprene rubber, but due to the addition of different additives and compounds, it has higher tensile strength and temperature resistance.
Food quality neoprene rubber is a popular choice for use within the food, drink and pharmaceutical industries as its white colour allows for dirt or foreign object detection, it is odourless therefore protecting products from contamination and offers resistance to animal and vegetable fats, oils and greases.
Popular applications for which food quality neoprene rubber can be used include food, beverage and pharmaceutical processing and packaging, sealing gaskets or o-rings, oven seals and drink pumps, etc.
