Metal Detectable Silicone Rubber
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd pride itself on being one of the UK’s largest suppliers of non-metallic materials including foams, sponges, rubber and plastics, many of which are available in specialist grades. One such material is Metal Detectable Silicone rubber, which is manufactured in continuous rolls of various lengths at 1.2meters wide, in thicknesses from 0.5mm to 10mm.
ASG has extensive on-site conversion facilities comprising of presses, bandsaws, slitters, coaters and CNC machines, which we can use to convert Metal Detectable Silicone rubber into a whole host of bespoke parts including cut sheets from 1 meter in length to gaskets, washers, pads or strips, coated in a range of self-adhesives and foils.
What is Metal Detectable Silicone Rubber?
Metal detectable silicone rubber is a blue coloured, FDA approved, high-quality material, which, unlike other food-safe rubber, contains additives that are visible to metal detector scanning equipment, enabling users to easily identify and remove any unwanted fragments or contamination in the food, drinks and pharmaceutical production process can be easily identified and isolated.

Why use Metal Detectable Silicone Rubber?
Metal Detectable Silicone rubber can be used in the form of a detection strip, pad, gasket or surface lining in food, drink and pharmaceutical industries where the risk of contamination needs to be eradicated. Metal Detectable silicone is a fully FDA compliant, long-lasting, heat resistant material that allows for easy detection and removal of contaminants, giving users peace of mind, time-saving with quick and easy detection and cost savings on production downtime or for product recall.
Advantages of using Metal Detectable Silicone Rubber
There are various ways in which our customers utilize acoustic foam gaskets, these include sound absorption. Due to its excellent sound dampening properties, acoustic foam gaskets are often used for fittings within marine applications, recording studios, acoustic/compressor or generator enclosures, etc.
Many industries also utilize acoustic foam gaskets for insulation, vibration control and cushioning due to the materials exceptional fire resistance properties (Surface Spread of Flame Class 1 BS 476 part 7 and Building Regulations 1991 (fire safety) Class 0 BS 476 part 6&7).
These include heating & ventilation, construction, automotive, and electrical equipment and appliance manufacturing.
