Silicone is usually cured using peroxide, using a platinum catalyst as an alternative for curing increased productivity and the speed of curing. It also allows thicker sections of the silicone to be cured without the use of higher temperatures and the risk of damage or scorching and doesn't leave mould causing residues like peroxide.
