Slow Recovery PVC Foam

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd work with a multitude of reputable material manufacturers and suppliers, enabling us to offer a range of materials in many grades, densities and colours.  One of the more popular materials includes various PVC foam grades, one of which includes Slow Recovery PVC Foam.   Slow Recovery PVC is a closed-cell, low-density foam that has many excellent mechanical properties, used widely for sealing and insulation.

Slow Recovery PVC Foam is manufactured and stocked in roll form with a choice of thicknesses between 2mm and 20mm, roll widths of 1 meter or 1.4 meters and rolls lengths of up to 130 meters long depending on the thickness, which can be used to cut down into finished products.

As we offer in-house conversion and lamination services, we can not only split PVC materials down to non-standard thicknesses, we can also laminate layers together and apply a choice of self-adhesives or foil facings.  Our onsite facilities consist of many presses, log cutters, strippers, bandsaws, and CNC machines. We can produce several PVC Foam products, including gaskets, washers, strips, pads, and fabrications.

What is Slow Recovery PVC Foam?

Slow Recovery PVC Foam is made up of PVC and Polyurea compounds which are combined, heated until it expands and then cured, creating a closed-cell, low-density foam, designed to seal against air, dust and liquids.  Slow Recovery PVC Foam as the name suggests ‘recovers’ slowly following compression.

Why use Slow Recovery PVC Foam?

Slow Recovery PVC Foam offers all the mechanical properties of the other PVC Foam, including UV resistance, low-level water absorption, dimensional stability and is used to construct seals against air, dust, and liquids, which also offers slower recovery following compression.

PVC Foams are lightweight, flame-retardant and durable. They have a Slow  Recovery property, making them perfect for use as moisture seals and within filtration systems where some irregular shaped gaps or surfaces will take longer to manipulate to fit into position.

Advantages of using Slow Recovery PVC Foam

Using Slow Recovery PVC Foam offers countless advantages over other foams including good acoustic, flammability properties and resistance to ozone, UV,  rot and mould growth and solvents making them popular for use in sealing, insulation, cushioning and filtration applications such as rooflight seals, glazing pads and refrigeration seals.

The reduced recovery time of the material allows it to be used to create a tight fitting and secure seal as it allows the user time to manipulate and fit the seal into position.  Slow Recovery PVC is available in a range of pre-manufactured thicknesses, ready to be shipped or cut down in usable finished products such as gaskets, washers, strips or pads where they are utilised in the automotive, construction, electronics, HVAC and stationery industries.

Benefits of using Slow Recovery PVC Foam

    • Extra lightweight
    • Recovers slowly the following compression
    • Can be laminated or split to non-standard thicknesses
    • Highly moisture resistant
    • Flame retardant
    • Can be easily cut into a range of products
    • Excellent dust and moisture seal
