One such group of products offered from our vast catalogue are various types of electrical insulation materials, with one type being Synthetic Resin Bonded Fibre, sometimes also called SRBF, Synthetic Resin Bonded Fabrics or fabric based laminates.
SRBF is available in a wide range of thicknesses including 0.8mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm and 20mm with a sheet size of 1220mm x 1220mm. SRBF can be supplied in both a medium weave and fine weave depending upon the customer's requirement and application.
Our onsite conversion facilities which consists of various presses, slitters, bandsaws and oscillating knife, allows us to take SRBF sheets of materials and convert them into finished parts including pads, washers, gaskets or strips - all of which can be supplied laminated with a choice of our many self-adhesives.

What is SRBF Electrical Insulation?
Synthetic Resin Bonded Fibre (SRBF) is a brown coloured ‘phenolic’ sheet material, made up using layers, in this case of cotton cloth (but can also be paper or glass fibre) which is placed into a resin or varnish and bound together using heat and pressure to create a high strength electrically insulating material.
Why use SRBF Electrical Insulation?
SRBF is recognised for its excellent wear resistance and electrical insulation properties, they are also rigid, lightweight and wear resistant. SRBF is dimensionally stable therefore suitable for low voltage and abrasive applications and can be easily machined into washers and pads or intricately cut parts for use as fine tooth gears, bearings and jigs in low or medium voltage applications.
Electrical insulation materials such as SRBF are used to create a barrier restricting the flow of electrical current, protecting electrical conductors from coming into contact with people or tools during installation, repairs or when an electrical appliance or device is being used. Electrical insulation materials also prevent electrical arcing (electrical current flows through the air between two conductors, as a result of the electrical breakdown of gas that produces an ongoing electrical discharge) and are used in other electrical insulation applications.

Grades of SRBF Available
SRBF Fine Weave (smooth) - manufactured to meet- BS EN 60893 Standard: 3-4-PFCC305. This smooth grade material offers excellent chemical resistance, electrical insulation and many other mechanical properties, suitable for intricately cut/machined components.
SRBF Fine Weave (coarse) - manufactured to meet BS EN 60893 Standard: 3-4-PFCC203, with every similar properties to the smooth grade but due to the texture isn't suited for intricate machining.
SRBF Medium Weave - manufactured to BS EN 60893 Standard: 3-4-PFCC201, is a great general purpose fabric material, offering high strength, wear resistance and low voltage electrical insulation.
SRBF (commercial) - is a more affordable alternative to the medium weave, manufactured to meet BS EN 60893 Standard: 3-4-PFCC203.
Advantages of Using SRBF Electrical Insulation
Synthetic Resin Bonded Fibre (SRBF) offers a number of advantages, many of which are similar to SRBP, but with better load bearing capabilities in comparison. SRBF is used in applications where a dimensionally stable, impact resistant and rigid material is required for use in abrasive and low voltage applications.
In comparison to plastics, it also offers low creep and corrosive resistant properties. SRBF materials and products as with other electrical insulation materials serve an important purpose and that is to safely insulate electrical devices, machinery and appliances which would otherwise be a fire or electric shock hazard.
This material is available in a range of thicknesses from 0.8mm up to 20mm, all of which can be machined into intricate and complex shapes for use as fine toothed gears, seals, geneva wheels, bearings, gears and jigs, etc. and used in wide range of high temperature applications, including in the automotive, electrical, white goods, lighting and energy markets.
