Reinforced Silicone Rubber

Reinforced Silicone Rubber

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd offer a choice of high quality silicone rubber materials in a variety of grades, one of which is Reinforced Silicone Rubber.

Reinforced Silicone Rubber can be manufactured and supplied as continuous rolls, sheets, pressed components such as washers and gaskets.

Rolls and sheets of reinforced silicone rubber are available in thicknesses from 1mm through to 6mm, in roll lengths of up to 10 meters and in a choice of 1m x 1m or 2m x 1m sheets all of which are held in stock ready for despatch in full or further conversion within our state of the art conversion facilities where using one of many slitters, log cutters, presses, bandsaws or the oscillating knife, we can also convert this raw material into a number of products including sheets or finished products such as washers, pads, strips or gaskets.

    What is Reinforced Silicone Rubber?

Standard Silicone (SI) rubber is an excellent material choice for converting into high performance mechanical seals and gaskets which can operate at high and low temperatures.   Silicone rubber even performs well when used outdoors and exposed to UV, weathering, ozone and moisture.  This

Reinforced Silicone Rubber is formulated using the same compound as standard silicone, but has a glass fabric running through the center which acts as reinforcement to produce a more superior and durable, tear resistant material.

    Why use Reinforced Silicone Rubber?

Reinforced Silicone Rubber is recognisable by its red colouration, however black and grey variants can also be manufactured in different grades in a choice of thicknesses from 1mm through to 6mm.

The material offers a broad working temperature range of around -62ºC - 260ºC, the same chemical resistance as standard silicone rubber, is odourless, tasteless and non-toxic, whilst offering far more superior durability and tear resistance compared to standard silicone, this is thanks to the glass fabric reinforcing layer which creates excellent tear resistance and non-creep characteristics, making the material suitable for use in applications that require non-stretch seals and gaskets.

    Different Grades

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd have a network of material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice, our most popular grades of silicone rubber include:

    • High Temperature Silicone
    • FDA Approved Silicone
    • Metal Detectable Silicone
    • Fluorosilicone
    • Conductive Silicone
    • Platinum Cured Silicone

    Benefits of Reinforced Silicone Rubber

    • Non - Toxic
    • Food contact safe
    • Good Resistance to weathering, UV and Ozone
    • Good thermal & electrical resistance
    • Working Temperature Range -62ºC - 260ºC
    • Superior tear resistance

Advantages of Using Reinforced Silicone Rubber

There are a number of advantages to using Reinforced silicone and it is especially popular within the food, beverage and medical industries due it being non-toxic.  Reinforced Silicone Rubber has a number of other excellent properties including higher levels of tensile strength, elongation, and a superior  tear strength in comparison to other materials.

It has an operating temperature range of -62°C to +260°C,  can be used in some of the more demanding applications where a superior  and improved tensile and tear strength are required such as aerospace, automotive, and general engineering or industrial seals and gaskets.

Reinforced Silicone Rubber offers excellent weatherability, resists well when exposed to various lubricating oils, and will maintains its physical properties over a wide temperature range.  Reinforced Silicone can be taken in a range of products including sheets, rolls, tubes and also cut into bespoke components such as washers, gaskets, strips pads and other seals.
