Conductive Silicone Gaskets

Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, we manufacture a diverse range of solid rubber gaskets including various grades of silicone.  One of our more specialised grades is Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber which is manufactured in thicknesses of 1.6mm, 2mm and 3.2mm at 915mm wide, and supplied in 1-meter widths up to 10 meters long from which gaskets can be cut.

Our Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber gaskets are produced in-house, meaning we can manufacture bespoke items to match our customer's samples or drawings, from a simple rectangular picture frame gasket, to a more complex shape with cut-outs, notches or bolt holes,  whether it’s a small sample batch or a multi-thousand run, we have a machine designed to quickly and accurately produce perfectly formed gaskets every time.

What are Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Gaskets?

Conductive Silicone Rubber is a carbon filled silicone material that acts as a low amp conductor, often used for the prevention and protection of static charge (electrostatic discharge) build-up.

The generic term often used to describe a rubber material with conductive properties is ‘conductive rubber’. These materials and products are used for the purpose of eliminating electromagnetic interference and radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI noise) often found in electronics.

Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber gaskets can be made in the form of a strip or pad, but are generally an intricately cut shaped piece of material placed between two surfaces to create a low-pressure seal preventing the leakage of liquids or gas and to seal against the intrusion of dust and debris.

Why use Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Gaskets?

Electrically conductive silicone rubber is made using the same formulation as standard silicone rubber, but incorporating conductive carbon particles throughout the material.

It is an excellent material for producing high-performance mechanical seals and gaskets which can operate at high and low temperatures and can be found as components in machinery, enclosures or equipment in indoor and outdoor applications.

With electrically conductive silicone rubber offering weathering, UV and Ozone resistance and a wide operating temperature range of -54°C to + 260°, making it suitable for a range of industries and applications including electronic enclosure shielding, and connectors in medical, defence, aerospace and telecommunications.

Advantages of using Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Gaskets?

Customers often choose Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber for their gasketing needs as it has a number of excellent characteristics and features, suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Silicone rubber has a broad working temperature range of  -54°C to + 260°C for use in hot and cold environments meaning it will not become brittle in freezing temperatures, unlike many other rubber materials.

It is resistant to weathering, ozone, many chemicals and fungal growth and offers excellent tensile strength and tear resistance.

Electrically conductive silicone rubber gaskets can be found used in many applications and industries where electro-static shielding is required including military, defence, medical and telecommunications in the form of enclosure seals, door seals and isolation barriers.
