Conductive Silicone Rubber

Conductive Silicone Rubber Rolls

Conductive Silicone Rubber

Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, we offer a number of high-quality solid rubber materials in roll form, including various grades of silicone.

One of our more specialised grades is electrically conductive silicone rubber, used to manufacture conductive silicone rubber rolls, which is manufactured in thicknesses of 1.6mm, 2mm and 3.2mm at 915mm wide, and supplied in 1-meter widths and in rolls up to 10 meters long.

As we house a range of state of the art machinery and carry out all our conversion and laminations on-site, we are able to take these rolls and cut them into various parts including strips, pads, washers and gaskets for use in a multitude of applications.

What are Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Rolls?

Conductive Silicone Rubber is a carbon filled silicone material that acts as a low amp conductor, often used for the prevention and protection of static charge (electrostatic discharge) build-up.

The generic term often used to describe a rubber material with conductive properties is ‘conductive rubber’.  These materials and products are used for the purpose of eliminating electromagnetic interference and radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI noise) often found in electronics.

Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber is often taken in roll form giving customers the flexibility to convert them into a range of usable products as required such as washers, pads, strips, etc.

Silicone rubber rolls are available in a range of types each with its own set of characteristics,  properties and resistances to suit different exposures and environments.

Why use Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Rolls?

Electrically conductive silicone rubber is made using the same formulation as standard silicone rubber, but incorporating conductive carbon particles throughout the material.  Silicone rubber rolls are excellent material for producing high-performance mechanical sealing products such as washers and gaskets which can operate at high and low temperatures.

Electrically conductive silicone rubber offers weathering, UV and Ozone resistance and a wide operating temperature range of -54°C to + 260°, making it suitable for a range of industries and applications including electronic enclosure shielding, and connectors in medical, defence, aerospace and telecommunications.

Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber rolls can be used to cover large surface areas, to cut and form into sleeves or used for converting into small cut parts.

Advantages of using Electrically Conductive Silicone Rubber Rolls?

Customers often choose Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber rolls as they have a number of excellent characteristics and features, suitable for indoor and outdoor use.  Silicone rubber has a broad working temperature range of  -54°C to + 260°C for use in hot and cold environments meaning it will not become brittle in freezing temperatures, unlike many other rubber materials.

It is resistant to weathering, ozone, many chemicals and fungal growth and offers excellent tensile strength and tear resistance.  Electrically Conductive Silicone rubber rolls are stocked in various thicknesses ready to be shipped as a complete roll, cut into sheets or cut down into smaller components.

Electrically conductive silicone rubber can be found used in many applications and industries where electro-static shielding is required including military, defence, medical and telecommunications in the form of enclosure seals, covers, door seals, sleeves and isolation barriers.
