EPDM Sponge Gaskets

EPDM Gaskets have been manufactured by Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd since 1996. We can deliver solid grade EPDM Gaskets suited to the application using our in-house facilities to die-cut bespoke items 1 off or 1000’s off product runs.

By coming to us with your requirements and you’ll receive a profession approach in providing solutions to your needs from a standard circular or rectangular gasket, to customised items requiring notches, slots and bolt holes.

To put it simply, a gasket is a ring or sheet of a substance acting as a seal between surfaces. The purposes for gaskets of this type are to prevent leakages of liquid or gas, keep joints air-tight and prevent the intrusion of damaging debris such as dust, making them a significant component a variety of applications.

EPDM Gaskets operate most efficiently when compressed in order to fill gaps and play an important role in the automotive, engineering and industrial sector.

EPDM Sponge Gaskets

EPDM is the abbreviated name for Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, a synthetic rubber such a popular choice includes the fact that is it air and water tight, ages well without becoming brittle, offers good UV resistance, works well in a wide range of temperatures. EPDM also provides excellent chemical resistance*, and good electrical properties. EPDM resists animal and vegetable oils, steam, water and oxygenated solvents.

As well as being able to withstand temperatures ranging from a low of -35°C up to a high of 120°C, provides good general resistance to animal and vegetable oils, chemicals and electrical properties.
The fact that EPDM is waterproof and works well under pressure makes it the ideal material for gaskets to be used in deep sea applications, while its noise insulating properties mean it is often featured in household appliances that call for lower levels of noise and movement.

Using a range of state of the art, automated machinery EPDM gaskets can be not only be manufactured in a range of shapes, but also supplied in many thicknesses from 1mm upwards.

The fact that EPDM gaskets also offers oil and  grease resistance, high resistance to the environmental impact of fresh and  salt water, UV, ozone and weathering means that the seal they create offers stability and longevity.  This flexile and durable material is an ideal choice in a vast range of industries including aerospace, MOD (Ministry of Defence), food industry, automotive and construction.

ASG supply the full range of EPDM gaskets primarily in black, with the exception of food grade EPDM which are available in blue and white.

ASG pride ourselves on providing exactly what each client needs and supply gaskets in different grades of neoprene, depending upon the demands of each application. Our commercial grades of EPDM are available in 40, 50, 60 and 70 shore hardness’s, the 40-50 shore rubber offers moderate pliability and elasticity, whilst the harder 60-70 shore  offers higher abrasion resistant durability, but less pliability and flexibility.  We also utilise a Water Research Advisory Service (WRAS) Approved EPDM for use in Potable Water Applications, Food Safe Grade (blue or white in colour), Insertion rubber and Peroxide Cured.  Speak to our sales team if you have any questions about the grade you require or would like to see samples.

The advantages of using EPDM as a material

  • Thermal stability –   excellent temperature stability –40° to +120°C
  • Environmental resilience – EPDM gaskets are extremely resistant to wear, ageing, weather influences and UV-light.
  • Environmental resilience – EPDM gaskets are extremely resistant to wear, ageing, weather influences and UV-light.
  • Durability –  long last lasting quality of an EPDM gasket greatly reduces expenditure on maintenance and replacements

Our Food Quality EPDM Rubber gaskets are manufactured from material blue or white in colour which meet EU1935: 2004, FDA 21 CFR part 177 Section 2600 Allowable Substances.  We ensure our FDA Approved gaskets meets stringent quality control, ensuring that the production facility is protected from the risks of contamination.

In addition, we offer WRAS Approved EPDM (The Water Regulation Advisory Scheme) which meets BS EN 681-1 and can be used in applications relating to Drinking and Potable water.  This is typically a black EPDM rubber with a cloth finish which has a resistance to Micro-biological growth.

ASG can supply EPDM gaskets complete with a self-adhesive backing. The addition of an adhesive holds the gasket in place, ensuring it remains stable even if the application moves. Clients can choose adhesive which is low, medium or high tack, depending upon the individual requirements, and members of our sales team are on hand to answer questions or offer advice.
