EVA Polyethylene Foam Pads

Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd you will find extensive facilities which not only house state of the art conversion machinery, but also hold large stocks of raw material including EVA Polyethylene in a range of grades, densities and colours, one of which includes Expanded Closed Cell  Cross Linked EVA Polyethylene foams in 30kg and 45kg densities. These Polyethylene foams in standard and EVA grades are often referred to as Block Foam, EVA Block Foam or EVA PE Foam. EVA Polyethylene foams are a cross linked material which look virtually identical to standard Polyethylene, however these EVA foams are stronger and more resilient due to the EV OR ethylene vinyl acetate content.

EVA Polyethylene foam is produced by a copolymerization reaction between vinyl acetate and ethylene, resulting in a versatile material which can be used as an alternative to other materials such as PVC and Polyurethane foams.  EVA Polyethylene foam is  manufactured and stocked in block or ‘bun’ form from which we can convert sheets and rolls at various thicknesses starting from as little as 1.5mm from which pads can be cut.

Our EVA Polyethylene foam pads are produced on-site using drawings or measurements provided by our customers, with whom we work closely to ensure the final product is to their exact specification. Depending upon the size and quantity of pads required, one of many presses, bandsaws or CNC machines can be used to manufacture the final product, from one off samples to multiple batch runs, which can be supplied as loosely cut parts, or kiss-cut on rolls where a high quantity is required or for use on fast paced assembly lines.

What are EVA Polyethylene Foam Pads?

EVA Polyethylene foam pads can be cut from rolls or sheets of material where they are often used in the same way as a gasket, whereby they are used to provide cushioning, create a seal between uneven surfaces and fill irregularities. Our EVA foam pads can be produced as squares or rectangles with the option of radius corners, and also as circular or oval shaped pads or ‘discs’,  in a range of thicknesses.  Manufacturing pads in-house even means we can supply them in a plain or self adhesive backed finish and even laminate multiple types of material together to create bespoke and unique variations.

EVA PE foam is a crosslinked Polyethylene foam, crosslinking is a manufacturing process that makes the foam more resistant to many substances including chemicals, Ethylene-vinyl acetate, or EVA foam is a co-polymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate with a very fine closed cell structure that is impervious to air and liquids. The cross linking combined with the EVA additive also produces a lighter and more elastic material giving these pads better recovery from stretching and compression, which is smoother in appearance in comparison to standard PE foam.

Why use EVA Polyethylene Foam Pads?

EVA Polyethylene Foam pads can be manufactured from blocks in densities of 30kg or 45kg and in different colours, using either sheets or rolls of material depending upon the size and quantity of pads required.  Ethylene-vinyl acetate or EVA Polyethylene is a soft, flexible material with a very fine cell structure that makes these pads impervious to air and liquids meaning moistures will not pass through nor will it be absorbed.   Although softer than some other polyethylene foams,  pads manufactured using EVA Polyethylene are more resilient and durable enabling them to absorb impact and pressure without deteriorating or tearing.  EVA PE foam pads can be found widely used within the building and construction industries where they are used to create seals and expansion joints, they can also be cut into shoe insole shapes, swimming floats or boat fenders.

EVA  Polyethylene foam pads are used to fill gaps and irregularities between uneven surfaces, provide a solution to unwanted rattles, noise, vibrations, to seal against air, gas, dust and liquids, and can also be used to cushion between moving parts to reduce friction and damage to components and equipment. EVA PE Foam pads can easily be compressed, which is a requirement In order for a gasket to work effectively, as it needs to compress and fill the entire space to create a pressure and air tight protective seal.

    Different Grades of Polyethylene Available

Having a network of manufacturers and suppliers, allows ASG to offer a full range of polyethylene materials, many of which are readily available from stock for a quick turnaround.  Below is just a selection of some of our popular polyethylene material types we can offer:

    • Stratocell

Benefits of using EVA Polyethylene Foam Pads

    • Lightweight & durable
    • Good impact, vibration and shock absorbing properties
    • Water repellent and buoyant
    • Excellent chemical, solvent, grease and fluid resistance
    • Good thermal and acoustic insulation
    • Easy to cut, convert  & shape

Advantages of using EVA Polyethylene Foam Pads

Using EVA Polyethylene foam pads offer countless advantages which is why they can be found in many industries for a range of applications,  Polyethylene foam is a man-made material, designed  to suit a range of requirements and is available in a choice of grades, densities and colours.  EVA PE foam pads have a closed cell structure  which can be used to seal against liquid, gases and particles.

EVA Polyethylene foam pads are designed  to suit a range of requirements offering features such as being odourless, lightweight, buoyant making EVA PE foams a popular choice  for the production of sealing and cushioning pads which require excellent recovery from repetitive impact and compression. Polyethylene EVA foam pads have a number of desirable properties including resistance to wear and tear and a working temperature range of -40°C to +80°C, they also offer excellent mechanical characteristics including noise and vibration control, shock absorption and can be used for thermal insulation.

EVA  Polyethylene  foam is aesthetically pleasing, with a nice texture which is easy to fabricate, laminated and cut into parts such as pads using a range of techniques and processes for use within the building and construction, HVAC, automotive, sports equipment, footwear, packagin and sports industries.
