Flame Retardant Plastazote Strip

Flame Retardant Plastazote Strip

ASG are one of the UK’s leading foam and rubber converted, producing cut strip using various types of Polyethylene (PE) foam, including Flame Retardant Plastazote (flame retardant plastazote strips), in densities ranging from 15kg to 70kg (referred to as LD15FR, LD33FR, LD45FR, LD60FR or LD70FR respectively).

This material is one of many closed cell, cross-linked polyethylene foams which is incredibly lightweight, and free from chemical agents which enables customers to use this material in highly sensitive environments where flame and heat resistance is crucial.

Flame Retardant Plastazote PE foam is manufactured and stocked in block form, which we can join and split in order to produce coils and flame retardant plastazote strips in various thicknesses starting from as little as 1.5mm and in lengths of up to 100 meters.

Flame retardant plastazote strips are all made to order, manufactured using state of the art machinery including band saws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required - for very small strips in high volume runs, a kiss-cut option may also be available for faster production and time efficiency for the end user. In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality, competitively priced flame retardant plastazote strips.

Our on-site laminating service enables us to supply flame retardant plastazote foam strips in a choice of finishes including plain or coated on one of both faces with a range of self-adhesives, foils or even laminated to other materials.

What Are Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Strips?

Flame retardant plastazote strips are pieces of material cut to a specific width and length as requested by our customers, in some cases available as continuous rolls or coils to be cut as when needed by the end user, often used in a similar way to a gasket placed between two surfaces to create a seal, provide cushioning or insulation.

Flame Retardant Plastazote is a cross-linked, closed cell polyethylene foam, man-made using crude oil into which nitrogen is blown and the foam is expanded, Flame Retardant plastazote is produced using the same compound as standard plastazote, but with the addition of flame retardant additives.

When the plastazote foam is compressed each nitrogen filled cell acts like a balloon, causing the foam to bounce back to its original shape, the closed cell structure of plastazote means it is impenetrable to air and moisture and will not allow liquids to pass through or be absorbed making it an excellent choice for the production of sealing or gasketing flame retardant plastazote strips.

Why Use Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Strips?

Strips are made using Flame Retardant plastazote PE foam for a number of reasons, they offer all of the many excellent properties of a standard plastazote, but formulated with flame retardant additives mixed into the compound, often used as an alternative to more expensive materials such as EPDM or Neoprene sponge. Plastazote foams can be easily split, therefore our on-site facilities are able to produce rolls of Flame Retardant Plastazote in bespoke strips widths from around 4mm and lengths of up to 100 meters.

Flame Retardant plastazote (which we use to manufacture our flame retardant plastazote strips) offers excellent compression following compression and impact, resistance to a range of chemicals, solvents, acids, alkalies, some oils, heat and flame, meaning it can be utilised in many applications. All Plastazote materials are lightweight and free from chemical agents, therefore the strips are safe to use in many ‘clean’ applications such as food, pharmaceutical and science.

Flame Retardant Plastazote foam strips can be used to fill gaps and irregularities between uneven surfaces, provide a solution to unwanted rattles, noise, vibrations, to seal against air, gas, dust and liquids, and can also be used to cushion between moving parts to reduce friction and damage to components and equipment.

Benefits Of Using Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam

    • Flame retardant plastazote strips are lightweight & durable
    • Good impact and shock absorbing properties
    • Water repellent and buoyant
    • Flame retardant plastazote strips have Excellent chemical, oils, acids, alkalis and solvent resistance
    • Good thermal insulation
    • Non-toxic and low odour
    • Flame and Heat resistant

    Different Grades of Polyethylene Foam

Having a network of manufacturers and suppliers, allows ASG to offer a full range of polyethylene materials, many of which are readily available from stock for a quick turnaround. Below is just a selection of some of our popular polyethylene material types we can offer:

    • Polyethylene (Block foam)
    • Anti static
    • Ethafoam
    • Eva foam
    • Flame retardant
    • Chemically cross linked
    • Low Density (LD) Plastazote (densities from 15kg to 70kg)
    • High Density (HD) Plastazote (densities from 30kg to 130kg)
    • Stratocell

Benefits Of Using Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam

Flame Retardant Plastazote foam is often chosen for customers' strip production as the material offers users countless advantages and are highly utilised in numerous industries and applications. As the rolls are produced in-house, we are able to make them in bespoke sizes and finishes to meet our customers requirements. Flame Retardant Plastazote foam, used to manufacture our flame retardant plastazote strips, are a man-made material, designed to suit a range of requirements and is available in a choice of densities.

Flame Retardant Plastazote foams are odourless, lightweight, buoyant, non-toxic and offer resistance to many oils, solvents, acids, alkalis, heat and flame. It’s closed cell surface and structure does not allow the absorption of liquids and is easy to keep clean, as well as being weatherproof and UV stable. Flame Retardant Plastazote foams are usually the preferred choice for the production of sealing strips which require excellent recovery from repetitive impact and compression.

Flame retardant plastazote products offer great thermal properties including high levels of vibration, shock absorption, heat and flame resistance for use within the automotive, construction and aviation industries.
