Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Washers

Flame Retardant Plastazote Washers

Washers can be manufactured using various materials sourced from a network of suppliers enabling ASG to offer products converted from different types of Polyethylene (PE) foam, including Flame Retardant Plastazote (used by ASG to manufacture flame retardant plastazote foam washers), in densities ranging from 15kg to 70kg (referred to as LD15FR, LD33FR, LD45FR, LD60FR or LD70FR respectively).

This material is a closed cell, cross-linked polyethylene foam which is incredibly lightweight, and free from chemical agents which enables customers to use this material in highly sensitive environments where flame and heat resistance is crucial. Flame Retardant Plastazote PE foam is manufactured and stocked in block form, which using in-house state of the art machinery we can split down in order to produce sheets or rolls in various thicknesses starting from as little as 1.5mm, from which plastazote foam washers can be cut.

Flame retardant plastazote foam washers are all made to order and are produced using dimensions, samples or drawings provided by our customer to ensure the final product perfectly fits the application - even offering a small sample run if required.

Depending on the size and quantity of the plastazote foam washers required, our production team will select from our range of atoms, autos, travelling head, kiss cut pressing machines or for very large or thick washers, we can programm our CNC (oscillating knife) to produce the flame retardant plastazote foam washers in the most efficient way to keep lead times down. Polyethylene foam is stocked in a range of grades, colours and densities, which can be laminated to other materials or coated with a sale-adhesive backing prior to the washers being cut.

What Are Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Washers?

Flame Retardant Plastazote foam is one of many cross-linked, closed cell polyethylene materials Advanced Seals & Gaskets can use for conversion. This material is man- made using crude oil into which nitrogen is blown and the foam is expanded giving the cellular structure.

Flame Retardant plastazote is produced using the same compound as standard plastazote, but with the addition of flame retardant additives. When the plastazote foam is compressed each nitrogen filled cell acts like a squashed balloon, causing the foam to bounce back to its original shape, the closed cell structure of plastazote means it is impenetrable to air and moisture and will not allow liquids to pass through or be absorbed making it an excellent choice for cutting into flame retardant plastazote foam washers for cushion, sealing or insulating applications.

Flame retardant plastazote foam washers are a flat ring, comprising of an Outer Diameter (OD), Internal Diameter (ID) and the thickness, cut from a sheet or roll of material, which is placed between two surfaces creating a level surface, acting as a spacer or between a nut/bolt to spread the pressure when tightened.

Why Use Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Washers?

Many customers often choose Flame Retardant plastazote PE foam for their washer production as the material offers many excellent properties of a standard plastazote, but formulated with flame retardant additives mixed into the compound, often used as an alternative to more expensive materials such as EPDM or Neoprene sponge.

Plastazote foams can be easily split from blocks or ‘buns’, therefore our on-site facilities are able to produce flame retardant plastazote foam washers in very small or large size using one of many pieces of machinery which include a selection of presses and an oscillating knife.

Flame Retardant plastazote offers excellent compression following compression and impact, resistance to a range of chemicals, solvents, acids, alkalies, some oils, heat and flame, meaning it can be utilised in many applications. All Plastazote materials are lightweight and free from chemical agents, therefore the washers are safe to use in many ‘clean’ applications such as food, pharmaceutical and science.

Flame retardant plastazote foam washers can be used to fill gaps and irregularities between uneven surfaces, provide a solution to unwanted rattles, noise, vibrations, to seal against air, gas, dust and liquids, and can also be used to cushion between moving parts to reduce friction and damage to components and equipment.

Advantages Of Using Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Washers

There are a number of advantages to using plastazote foam washers manufactured from Flame Retardant Plastazote, therefore they can be found utilised in numerous industries and applications.

As these flame retardant plastazote foam washers are produced in-house, we are able to make them in bespoke sizes to meet our customers requirements. Flame Retardant Plastazote foam is a man-made material, designed to suit a range of requirements and is available in a choice of densities. Flame Retardant Plastazote foams are odourless, lightweight, buoyant, non-toxic and offer resistance to many oils, solvents, acids, alkalis, heat and flame.

It’s closed cell surface and structure does not allow the absorption of liquids and is easy to keep clean, as well as being weatherproof and UV stable. Flame Retardant Plastazote foams are usually the preferred choice for the production of seals or components which require excellent recovery from repetitive impact.

Flame retardant plastazote products offer great thermal properties including high levels of vibration, shock absorption, heat and flame resistance for use within the automotive, construction and aviation industries.
