GA25 Chemically Cross Linked Polyethylene Seals

Seals and products manufactured for the purpose of sealing are just one of many product categories offered by Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, these include seals (such as chemically cross linked polyethylene foam seals) manufactured using a range of polyethylene foam materials, one of which is GA25 Chemically Cross Linked Polyethylene Foam.

Chemically cross linked polyethylene seals can take the form of gaskets, washers, cord and extrusions, which are all designed for the purpose of preventing leaks or the ingress of air, fluids and gas. All our GA25 PE foam seals are made to order and are produced by following samples or drawings provided by customers to ensure the final product perfectly fits the application.

As each form of seal needs to be manufactured using a different process, ASG have invested heavily in various machinery allowing us to offer seals in both high and low volumes at competitive prices.

What Are Chemically Cross Linked Polyethylene Foam Seals?

GA25 chemically cross linked polyethylene foam seals or XLPE seals are a device or component that is used to join surfaces together, acting as a spacer or barrier to prevent liquids, particles or gases escaping or penetrating the application.

‘Seal’ is a general term for a product often taking the form of cut gaskets, strips, washers or extruded profiles such as edge trims and cord. GA25 polyethylene is manufactured using raw low density polyethylene, which is heated up causing it to foam before it is extruded creating a ‘honeycomb’ type cell structure. Chemically cross linked PE foam can be manufactured as sheets or continuous rolls which can be cut or pressed into a range of sealing components, however some profiles can also be manufactured by way of extrusion.

Why Use Chemically Cross Linked Polyethylene Foam Seals?

Seals manufactured using Chemically cross linked polyethylene foam are tough, lightweight and long lasting. As the material is manufactured by way of extrusion, the seals can be supplied with a rougher outside surface or ‘skin’ which adds to its strength and makes it more resistant to damage caused by water, air or sunlight.

XLPE foam seals (GA25 chemically cross linked polyethylene foam seals) can be used as insulation as they offer low thermal transmission and also as shock absorption foam, ideal for packaging - for use with electronics, an anti-static agent can also be added to the compound. Rolls of this material are popular as they give the customer and end user the flexibility to be able to cut their own seals.

The Advantages of Using Chemically Cross Linked Polyethylene Foam Seals

XLPE (GA25 Chemically cross linked polyethylene) seals offer a number of desirable properties as the material is tough, lightweight and long lasting. This polyethylene material is manufactured using extrusion methods which creates a rougher outside ‘skin’ which adds to its strength to the seals making them more resistant to damage caused by water, air or sunlight.

GA25 Chemically cross linked PE foam seals can be used as insulation as they offer low thermal transmission and also for shock absorption, ideal for packaging, if using the seals within electronics, an anti-static agent can also be added to the compound prior to the raw material being cured. Rolls and sheets of GA25 polyethylene are manufactured in a range of sizes and thicknesses, which means they can quickly be converted into cut or pressed seals, for very bespoke shapes, extrusion methods can be used to produce such profiles.

Chemically cross linked polyethylene foam seals can be found used in a range of industries such as construction, HVAC and packaging to name a few.
