Hypalon® Rubber Pads

Hypalon Rubber Pads

Hypalon® Rubber Pads

Rubber pads can be manufactured and supplied by Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, using materials sourced from a host of manufacturers, including Hypalon rubber (a material we utilise to create our hypalon rubber pads).

As with many solid rubbers, Hypalon rubber is manufactured in roll or sheet form, in a range of thicknesses starting at 1mm with rolls measuring 1.4 meters wide by 10 meters long as standard, however as we carry out all our conversion on site, we can cut these down into bespoke sized pads.

Regardless of the size and quantity of Hypalon pads required, we have a number of presses, bandsaws or CNC machines which can be used to manufacture the final product. From one-off samples to multiple 1000 batch runs, which depending on the pad size can be supplied as loosely cut parts, or kiss-cut on rolls where a high quantity is required or for use on fast paced assembly lines.

    What Are Hypalon Rubber Pads?

chlorosulfonated polyethylene or Hypalon rubber is a high quality synthetic material, produced by combining and reacting polyethylene with chlorine and sulfur dioxide, this reaction changes the thermoplastic polyethylene into a synthetic elastomer which can then be compounded and vulcanised to produce the finished material.

Using a selection of in-house machinery ASG can produce square or rectangular pads with the option of radius corners, and also as circular or oval shaped pads or ‘discs’, in a range of thicknesses. Manufacturing pads in-house means we can offer the option to supply them in a plain or self adhesive backed finish and even laminate multiple types of material together to create bespoke and unique variations.

    Why Use Hypalon Rubber Pads?

Hypalon rubber pads are mainly used as a type of seal, where they can create air or liquid tight seals, as gap fillers for uneven surfaces. They can also be used to reduce friction between moving parts and can absorb vibration especially when used to connect objects with hard surfaces where there is a lot of movement.

Hypalon pads have an excellent resistance to ozone, weathering and acids, with an exceptional resistance to chemicals and oils and very high or low temperatures, an operating temperature range of -30℃ to +140℃ and a high tensile strength. By combining the two compounds in the material manufacturing process, Hypalon rubber pads demonstrate the moisture resistance, a good dielectric strength and chemically inertness of standard polyethylene, with the oil and self extinguishing fire resistance properties produced with the addition of chlorine.

    Advantages Of Hypalon Rubber Pads

Pads manufactured using Hypalon rubber offer a number of excellent qualities which include its chemical inertness, resistance to ozone, weathering and oils, wide operating temperature range, good dielectric strength and self-extinguishing properties.

Hypalon rubber is usually manufactured in continuous rolls which can later be cut and converted into bespoke shapes and sized pads, however being a solid rubber, they can also be moulded into specific profiles. Applications in which Hypalon rubber is often found include automotive seals, hydraulic sealing, cable construction and housing and incorporated into roofing systems.

    Benefits Of Using Hypalon Pads

    • Excellent ozone and weather resistance
    • Hypalon rubber pads are resistant to aggressive chemicals, abrasion and mechanical impact or friction
    • Hypalon rubber pads have good resistance to oil and solvents
      Wide working temperature range
    • Electrical insulation properties
    • Low flammability
