Flame Retardant Plastazote Gasket

Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Gaskets

Flame Retardant Plastazote Gasket

Polyethylene foams are supplied and converted in a range of grades by Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, who work with a multitude of reputable material manufacturers and suppliers.

Our network of suppliers enables us to offer flame retardant plastazote foam gaskets cut using various types of Polyethylene (PE) foam, including Flame Retardant Polyethylene, in densities ranging from 15kg to 70kg (referred to as LD15FR, LD33FR, LD45FR, LD60FR or LD70FR respectively).

This material is a closed cell, cross-linked polyethylene foam which is incredibly lightweight, and free from chemical agents which enables customers to use this material in highly sensitive environments where flame and heat resistance is crucial. Flame Retardant Plastazote PE foam is manufactured and stocked in block form, which we can split into sheets and rolls of various thicknesses starting from as little as 1.5mm, from which flame retardant plastazote foam gaskets can be cut.

As our flame retardant plastazote foam gaskets are produced in-house on state of the art machinery, we can manufacture bespoke items to match our customers samples or drawings, from a simple rectangular picture frame gasket, to a more complex shape with cut-outs - we can offer a solution. Whether it’s a small sample batch or a multi-thousand run, we have a machine to quickly and accurately produce perfectly formed gaskets in a range of sizes, these include a number of presses, CNC and kiss cut machines.

Our flame retardant plastazote foam gaskets can be produced plain or with a choice of finishes including foils, self adhesives or laminated to other materials, depending on the size and quantity of the gasket, they can be supplied as loosely packed parts, or kiss-cut on rolls.

What Are Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Gaskets?

Plastazote foams are a cross-linked, closed cell polyethylene foam, man- made using crude oil into which nitrogen is blown and the foam is expanded, Flame Retardant plastazote is produced using the same compound as standard plastazote, but with the addition of flame retardant additives. When the plastazote foam is compressed each nitrogen filled cell acts like a balloon, causing the foam to bounce back to its original shape, the closed cell structure of plastazote means it is impenetrable to air and moisture and will not allow liquids to pass through or be absorbed making it an excellent choice for sealing and gasket production.

Flame retardant plastazote foam gaskets can take the form of a strip or pad, but are generally an intricately cut shaped piece of material placed between two surfaces to create a low pressure seal preventing the leakage of liquids or gas and to seal against the intrusion of dust and debris when under compression. Plastazote like other polyethylene foams are manufactured in a range of densities for us in different applications. The density of the foam is measured as the weight or mass of the foam across its entire volume or within a cubic meter (m3). The denser the foam, the heavier and more compact the material is, this can vary some of the properties of the material and how it performs.

Why Use Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Gaskets?

Flame Retardant plastazotes offer all the properties of a standard plastazote, but formulated with flame retardant additives mixed into the compound, often used as an alternative to more expensive materials such as EPDM or Neoprene sponge.

Plastazote foams can be easily split, cut or pressed into even the most intricately shaped plastazote foam gaskets. FLame Retardant plastazote offers excellent compression following compression and impact, resistance to a range of chemicals, solvents, acids, alkalies and some oils, meaning it can be utilised in many applications. All Plastazote materials are lightweight and free from chemical agents, therefore the gaskets are safe to use in many ‘clean’ applications such as food, pharmaceutical and science.

Flame retardant plastazote foam gaskets can be used to fill gaps and irregularities between uneven surfaces, to provide a solution to unwanted rattles, noise, vibrations, to seal against air, gas, dust and liquids, and can also be used to cushion between moving parts to reduce friction and damage to components and equipment. In order for a gasket to work effectively, it needs to compress and fill the entire space to create a pressure and air tight protective seal.

Benefits of using Flame Retardant Plastazote foam

    • Flame retardant plastazote foam gaskets are lightweight & durable
    • Good impact and shock absorbing properties
    • Water repellent and buoyant
    • Flame retardant plastazote foam gaskets have excellent chemical, oils, acids, alkalis and solvent resistance
    • Good thermal insulation
    • Non-toxic and low odour
    • Flame and Heat resistant

Advantages Of Using Flame Retardant Plastazote Foam Gaskets

Flame retardant plastazote foam gaskets offer users countless advantages and are highly utilised in numerous industries and applications, Flame Retardant Plastazote foam is a man-made material, designed to suit a range of requirements and is available in a choice of densities.

Flame Retardant Plastazote foams are odourless, lightweight, buoyant, non-toxic and offer resistance to many oils, solvents, acids, alkalis, heat and flame. It’s closed cell surface and structure does not allow the absorption of liquids and is easy to keep clean, as well as being weatherproof and UV stable. Flame Retardant Plastazote foams are usually the preferred choice for the production of plastazote foam gaskets as the material has excellent recovery from repetitive impact.

Flame retardant plastazote foam gaskets offer great thermal properties including high levels of vibration, shock absorption, and heat and flame resistance for use within the automotive, construction and aviation industries.
