Neoprene Insertion Sheet

Neoprene Insertion Rubber Sheets

Neoprene Insertion Sheet

As Advanced Seals & Gaskets stock a range of solid rubber materials, we are able to supply these as cut sheets when only a small amount of material is required.

One type of solid rubber available is Neoprene insertion rubber, manufactured in roll form usually at 1.4meters wide x 10meters long and in thicknesses starting at 1.5mm, however using a range of machinery house on-site, we can cut these down into sheets at 1 meter or 2 meter in length as standard, with smaller bespoke sized neoprene insertion rubber sheets or pads also available upon request.

Solid neoprene insertion rubber sheets can be cut down in finished parts such as washers, gaskets, strips, etc or supplied using our in-house conversion facilities which consists of bandsaws, presses, kiss cut machines, slitters, log cutters and an oscillating knife. Neoprene insertion rubber sheets is often taken in sheet form as they give the customer and end users the flexibility to cover large surface areas and to be able to cut their parts out as and when they are required.

Key Characteristics of Solid Neoprene Insertion Rubber:

    • Colour: black
    • Shore Hardness: 70°C
    • Temperature: -20°C up to +110°C
    • Resistances: suitable for most oils, greases, water, ozone, moderate chemicals and acids.
    • Applications: Gaskets, pipe flanges, chute liner, sleeves, container seals

What Are Solid Neoprene Insertion Rubber Sheets?

Neoprene insertion rubber sheets are manufactured to the same specification as standard neoprene, as a synthetic rubber, black in colour, but is produced with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre referred to as the ‘insertion’.

The reinforcement gives these sheets of economy grade material, an even higher tensile strength and wear resistance, whilst still maintaining good chemical stability and maintains its natural flexibility over a wide range of temperatures, it is highly durable as the material holds a high tolerance to extreme weathers and conditions, with good resistance to oil, chemicals and ozone. Solid Neoprene insertion rubber sheets are cut from rolls of material and supplied in lengths of either 1 meter or 2 meters.

Why Use Solid Neoprene Insertion Rubber Sheets?

Neoprene Insertion Rubber material is manufactured using the same formulation and compound as standard solid neoprene rubber, but with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre which serves to increase the durability of the material.

This 'insertion' or reinforcement also prevents the material from stretching and increases its wear and tear resistance when used for physically demanding applications and during conversion.

Neoprene insertion rubber has good resistance to chemicals, UV, ozone/weathering and moderate resistance to oils (animal/vegetable) and inorganic salts. It has a wide working temperature range of-20°C to +110℃ and is a strong material with excellent abrasion properties.

Neoprene insertion rubber can be converted into a range of products such as sleeves, tubes, gaskets and washers for use in countless applications including electrical insulations, engineering applications, tank seals, window seal and cable protection, to name a few.

    Benefits Of Neoprene Insertion Rubber

    • Popular for internal / external applications
    • Increased durability and tensile strength compared to standard neoprene
    • Impermeable to water and dust
    • Moderate resistance to oil, chemical greases and fats.
    • Excellent resistance to ozone, weathering and ageing
    • Can be converted into a range of products

    Grades Of Insertion Rubber Available

NBR/SBR insertion (Nitrile) is manufactured using nitrile rubber and SBR compounds to create a material suitable for general purpose gasketing. This commercial grade rubber offers resistance to fuels, petroleum, oils and many solvents making it suitable for use within a variety of industrial applications.

EPDM/SBR insertion rubber is another hybrid made up of 2 different compounds. This particular grade of material offers good resistance to weathering and Ozone deterioration and provides properties such as a high tensile strength and tear resistance. Commercial grade EPDM rubber is typically used for applications such as pipe seals, weather strips and dust seals.

SBR Insertion rubber (Styrene-butadiene rubber) is a cost effective, commercial grade, general purpose rubber with good abrasion resistance, tensile strength and low compression set. SBR rubber is not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons

Advantages Of Neoprene Insertion Rubber Sheets

Neoprene insertion rubber sheets and components cut from them are popular amongst a range of industries due the number of excellent properties. Neoprene insertion rubber sheets are used where a more durable, strong, abrasive material is required in an environment where exposure or sealing against extreme weather, water , salts, oil grease, UV/Ozone and gases is necessary.

This material maintains its flexibility across a wide temperature range and keeps its chemical resistance properties even in very hot or cold environments. Neoprene insertion rubber can be supplied in full sheets, or easily converted into bespoke gaskets, pads, strips or washers which can be used for a broad range of physically demanding applications from boating, marine sealing and insulation - through to being cut into flange gaskets, belts and sleeves.

Neoprene insertion rubber sheets are often preferred to rolls when only a small amount of material is needed or a small number of components are going to be converted which reduces the waste and cost of the excess materials.
