Neoprene Sponge Roll

Neoprene Sponge Roll

Neoprene Sponge Roll

Advanced Seals & Gaskets offer a vast catalogue of neoprene products in both sponge and solid rubber variants. One of these products are neoprene sponge rolls, also sometimes referred to as neoprene foam, neoprene sponge rubber rolls sheet or medium density neoprene sponge. Our medium density neoprene sponge is manufactured and stocked in block or ‘bun’ form, which we can join together and then split to as little as 1 mm, and produce continuous lengths or rolls of material in lengths of 10 meters as standard, but these can be made to 50 to 100 meters long depending on the material thickness.

Our onsite laminating service not only allows us to laminate layers of neoprene sponge to create greater depths, but also enables us to supply neoprene sponge products with a choice of self-adhesives, foils and even layers of other materials to create composite sheets and rolls. Medium Grade Neoprene sponge can be supplied in full and converted into a range of cut or fabricated parts such as gaskets, pads, strips and washers.

What are Neoprene Sponge Rubber Rolls?

Neoprene whether its a sponge or solid rubber roll are also referred to as CR or Polychloroprene. Neoprene sponge rubber in a medium density is just one of many closed cell materials on offer from Advanced Seals & Gaskets’ vast catalogue, which can be used for sealing against dust, air and moisture, gap filling between uneven surfaces or for reducing unwanted noise and vibration in applications where there is exposure to chemicals, oil and petrol. These rolls of material are very versatile and can be supplied in sizes to suit each customer's needs or cut into smaller components.

Why use Neoprene Sponge Rubber Rolls?

Neoprene sponge offers countless desirable properties making it a popular choice for use as a sealing, gasketing and insulating material. The closed cell structure of these rolls of material create an air, dust and water tight seal, with both sound and vibration insulating properties.

Neoprene sponge has a greater longevity compared to other materials thanks to its excellent aging properties, being resilient to ozone, sunlight, oxidation and UV exposure. Medium grade Neoprene sponge is resistant to petrol, oil, chemically inert and flame retardant, therefore  components cut from these rolls of material are often found used within many building & construction, glazing, sealing, electronic and automotive applications.

Neoprene sponge is often taken in rolls form as they give the customer and end user the flexibility to be able to cut their own strips, pads, gaskets or washers as and when they’re required or when larger surface areas need to be covered.

    Different Grades

Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a number of material manufacturers, meaning our customers benefit from a choice of grades when using neoprene sponge rolls. Neoprene sponge rolls can be supplied not only in our medium density Neoprene, but also in a Flame Retardant,Firm grade and EPDM/Neoprene Blended grade.

Firm Grade Neoprene sponge sheets are closed cell, fire resistance tested to FMVSS 302, and have a density of 180kg (+/- 25), this means they are suitable for use in more heavy duty applications, where less compression is needed to create a tight seal.

Flame Retardant Neoprene sheets are grey in colour, can handle continuous temperatures from -40°C to 115°C and subjected to more vigorous fire testing ( FMVSS 302, UL94, AFNOR P9750), this makes the material ideal for use within construction and transport applications where a flame resistant barrier may be required.

EPDM/Neoprene Blend sponge is an extremely versatile material, combining the properties of both types of sponge, excellent weathering and outdoor resistance of EPDM and the oil/chemical resistance of neoprene, making it the ideal choice for many outdoor sealing applications.

Please get in touch if you are unsure which grade of neoprene sponge you require or would like samples for your own tests.

    Benefits of Neoprene Sponge Rubber

    • Readily available from stock
    • Durable
    • Oil, petrol, chemical, UV, Ozone & weathering resistant
    • Flame retardant
    • Sound/vibration absorbing
    • Closed cell which prevents bacteria & mould growth

Advantages of Using Neoprene Sponge Rubber Rolls

Using Neoprene sponge rolls offers many advantages. Being one of ASG’s stock materials,  rolls of any length, width and thickness can be turned around within a minimal timeframe.  The material itself is long lasting, with a wide operating temperature range of -40ºc to +115ºc coupled with being UV, Ozone & weathering resistant, means it can be utilised for many indoor and outdoor applications.

Under minimal compression, neoprene sponge rolls and components cut from them create an excellent dust, air and watertight seal as well as good resistance against oil, being a flexible and robust material, they can be found used within many automotive, glazing, electronic, lighting, ventilation and building/construction applications.Cutting components from rolls of materials also allows for a better yield to be achieved, which in return reduces waste and cost, especially when a large quantity of parts are required.
