Nitrile Cork Gasket

Nitrile Cork Gasket

Advanced Seals & Gaskets are a leading gasket manufacturer that has invested in state-of-the-art conversion machinery, ensuring we maintain the highest standards when producing our products, whilst keeping costs competitive.  We produce gaskets using a range of materials including Nitrile Cork and based on our customer's drawings or samples., on-site manufacturing means we can create bespoke gaskets in 1 off or 1000 off batches.

Our nitrile cork gaskets are available in any shape or size and can be supplied as individual parts or kiss-cut on rolls for time efficiency. We can apply a self-adhesive backing to the material, this assists with the application of the material and ensures the gasket stays in place for ease of assembly.  Nitrile cork gaskets are often used by customers for use within automotive, construction, manufacturing, and fuel industries as the material is oil, fuel, hydrocarbon, and weather resistant.

What are Nitrile Cork Gaskets?

Gaskets are a sheet or intricately cut shaped piece of material placed between two surfaces to create a low-pressure seal preventing the leakage of liquids or gas and to seal against the intrusion of dust and debris.   Nitrile cork is made from cork and nitrile rubber granules which are bonded together, creating a brown coloured material with black pigments scattered throughout.

The nitrile adds properties to the cork such as resistance to oil, fuel, hydrocarbons, and water, with a durable physicality. This material is manufactured in sheet and roll form from which pads can be cut, joined, or laminated to produce non-standard sizes to suit our customer’s specifications.

    Why use Nitrile Cork Gaskets?

Cork gaskets are used in many industries, the choice of material and grade is determined by factors such as environment, cost, and the application itself.   Nitrile bonded cork material has a vast range of properties including anti-vibration, weathering, water, oil, and solvent resistance.  It is flexible and a relatively cheap material choice which is also good for use with fuel and will seal at temperatures up to 120°C.

As our nitrile cork gaskets are manufactured in-house, we have the capabilities to manufacture Nitrile Cork pads laminated to any of the other materials in our catalog, combining properties and creating a unique and robust product.  Our Nitrile bonded cork gaskets are highly utilized in the automotive, engineering, construction, industrial, and manufacturing industries.  Many of our customers use nitrile bonded cork pads where other materials have failed.

    Different Grades

Cork gaskets can be produced in various other grades, such as natural cork, or bonded with other materials other than nitrile such as neoprene and synthetic rubber.

Natural cork holds thermal and sound suppressing properties, it also provides an excellent seal against air/dust and water.

Neoprene bonded cork has the core properties of cork while adding the base properties of neoprene such as the high oil, water, and weather resistant qualities, ensuring the material continues to perform as an excellent seal when exposed to UV rays and ozone.

Synthetic bonded cork is highly compressible and offers flexibility, oil/fuel resistance, and anti-vibration properties.

Advantages of Using Nitrile Cork Gaskets

Nitrile bonded cork gaskets offer many advantageous properties that are highly sought after in various industries including automotive, construction, manufacturing to mention a few.

Nitrile bonded cork gaskets are used within these industries where the material is required to be resistant to the effect of the ozone, oils, fuels, and heat or where it is to be used for surface protection, sealing, spacing, and sound/vibration absorption within heavy machinery and mechanical components.

Nitrile bonded cork gaskets can also be found in sumps, crankcase covers, inspection doors, valve covers, electrical transformers, electrical switch gears and to seal general covers and lids.
