    What Are Nitrile Cork Pads?

Cork Pads are often used in a similar way to a gasket, whereby it is placed between two surfaces to create a low pressure seal preventing the leakage of liquids or gas and to seal against the intrusion of dust and debris.

Nitrile cork is made from cork and nitrile rubber granules which are bonded together, creating a brown coloured material with black pigments scattered throughout.  The nitrile adds properties to the cork such as resistance to oil, fuel, hydrocarbons and water, with a durable physicality.

This material is manufactured in sheet and roll form from which pads can be cut, joined or laminated to produce non-standard sizes to suit our customer’s specifications.

Quality of our Nitrile Bonded Cork

The quality of the products and services manufactured from Neoprene Bonded Cork is controlled by our Quality Management System which is certified to ISO 9001.

Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets we manufacture pads using in-house state of the art machinery which our operators are trained to calibrate using customer’s drawings, samples and specifications.  Producing the pads on-site enables us to create bespoke pads in 1 off or 1000 off batches, whilst maintaining our high quality and keeping costs down.  Our pads are available in any size and can be supplied as individual parts or kiss-cut on rolls for time efficiency. We can apply a self-adhesive backing to the material, this assists with the application of the material.  Ensuring the pad stays in place for ease of use.

We produce pads from a variety of materials including nitrile cork which can be used for applications within the automotive, construction, manufacturing and fuel industries as the material is oil, fuel, hydrocarbon and weather resistant.  We can apply a self-adhesive backing to the material, this assists with the application of the material.  Ensuring the pad stays in place for ease of use.

    Different Grades

Along with nitrile, our cork pads can be supplied in a natural cork grade or bonded with other materials such as neoprene and synthetic rubber.

Neoprene bonded cork has the core properties of cork while adding the base properties of neoprene such as the highly water and weather resistant qualities, ensuring the material continues to perform as an excellent seal when exposed to UV rays and ozone.

Natural cork holds thermal and sound suppressing properties that are used in applications such as heavy machinery, engines and high motion mechanical.

    Why use Nitrile Cork Pads?

Pads are often manufactured from nitrile bonded cork due to the vast number of properties the material possesses, these include anti-vibration, weathering, water, oil and solvent resistance.  It is a relatively cheap material choice which is also good for use with petrol and will seal at temperatures up to 120°C.

As we manufacture our pads in-house, we have the capabilities to manufacture Nitrile Cork pads laminated to any of the other materials in our catalogue, combining properties and creating a unique and robust product.

Our Nitrile bonded cork pads are highly utilized in the automotive, engineering, construction, industrial and manufacturing industries.  Many of our customers use nitrile bonded cork pads where other materials have failed.
