Nitrile Cork Strip

Nitrile Cork Strip

Nitrile Cork Strip

Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets, we take great pride in producing high-quality strips using our huge range of materials one of which is nitrile bonded cork.  Nitrile bonded cork strips are on-site, using our band saws, strippers, log cutters, and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required. In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality strips.

Our nitrile cork strips are cut from sheets or rolls which are manufactured in a range of standard thicknesses, during our conversion process we can laminate layers of cork to produce greater depth, split some grades down for thinner ones, and supply the final strips with a plain or self-adhesive backed finish.  Nitrile Cork strips are available in various grades including natural or bonded with either neoprene, nitrile, or synthetic rubber to give the cork more flexibility and added properties. Nitrile cork strips can be used for applications within the automotive, construction, manufacturing, and fuel industries as the material are oil, fuel, hydrocarbon, and weather resistant.

What are Nitrile Cork Strips?

Nitrile cork strips are often used as a sealing/gasket strip where it can be placed between two surfaces to create a seal preventing the leakage of liquids, air/gases, or as a sound/vibration isolation strip used to reduce unwanted excess noise.

Nitrile bonded cork is produced using a combination of natural cork and nitrile rubber granules which are bound together. The nitrile adds properties to the cork such as resistance to oil, fuel, hydrocarbons, and water, with a durable and flexible physicality.

The finished material is brown with black pigments scattered throughout, manufactured in roll and sheet form allowing us to offer a choice of strip widths and lengths to suit our customer’s specifications.

    Strips

Here at ASG, we have the necessary machinery to produce strips in a vast range of materials including such as EPDM, neoprene, Plastazote, acoustic foam, polyethylene, solid rubber, silicone, plastics, and many more.  A combination of our state-of-the-art facilities and highly skilled staff, allows us to produce strips with various finishes, including self-adhesive, foil, and with the option to laminate multiple layers or materials together.

    Why use Nitrile Cork Strips

Strips are often manufactured from nitrile bonded cork due to its excellent range of properties, these include anti-vibration, weathering, water, oil, and solvent resistance.  It is a relatively cheap material choice that is also good for use as sound/vibration insulation, can be used with fuel, and will seal at temperatures up to 120°C.

As we manufacture strips on-site, we have the capabilities of a number of finishes including self-adhesive or foil backed or even laminated to other materials in our catalogue, combining properties and creating a unique and robust product.  Our Nitrile bonded cork pads are highly utilized in the automotive, engineering, construction, industrial, and manufacturing industries.

    Different Grades

There are many more grades to cork as the cork granules can be bonded with many other materials such as neoprene, synthetic rubbers as well as base natural cork.

Neoprene bonded cork has the core properties of cork while adding the base properties of neoprene such as the high water, oil, and weather resistant qualities, ensuring the material continues to perform as an excellent seal when exposed to UV rays and ozone.

There are many synthetic rubbers that can be bonded to the cork that enhance properties of the cork, adding for example fuel/oil resistance.

Natural cork holds thermal and sound suppressing properties as well as an excellent seal against air/dust and water.

Advantages of Using Nitrile Cork Strips

Nitrile bonded cork strips offer many properties that are required in various industries including automotive, construction, manufacturing to mention a few.

Nitrile bonded cork strips are used where the material is required to be resistant to the effect of the ozone, oils, fuels, and heat or where it is to be used for surface protection, sealing, spacing, and sound/vibration absorption within heavy machinery and mechanical components.

Nitrile bonded cork strips can also be found in sumps, inspection doors, valve covers, electrical transformers, electrical switch gears and to seal general covers and lids.
