Nylon Fabric Textile Pads

Nylon Fabric Textile Pads

Nylon Fabric Textile Pads

Nylon fabric textiles are lightweight, durable and available in a range of sizes, thicknesses and colours. A thermoplastic material similar to silk, nylon fabric textiles can be melt-processed into various films, or shapes.  In addition to its high resistance to molds, mildew, and chemicals, its high wear and heat resistant properties make nylon fabric a popular choice in a range of applications. Our nylon fabric textile pads can be manufactured plain, or self-adhesive backed with a peel-able liner on one or both sides. As we carry out all conversions onsite, we have full control over dimensions and can cut this material to meet a wide range of specifications.

Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets Limited, whether we manufacture as a one-off or in large quantities, we work closely with our customers to provide a completely bespoke service. Utilizing state-of-the-art machinery and a highly trained workforce, we produce top quality products to meet a wide range of specifications.

    What are Nylon Fabric Textiles?

The term nylon refers to a family of synthetic polymers commonly used to produce a variety of products. In contrast to organic fibres or semi-synthetic fibres, nylon fibres are entirely synthetic, which means they do not originate from organic materials.

Nylon fabric is composed of a long chain of carbon-based molecules called monomers. There are several types of nylon, but the majority are derived from polyamide monomers found in crude oil, commonly referred to as petroleum. Among other things, nylon fabric textiles are widely used in seatbelts and tire cords because of their durability and ability to retain their shape after getting wet.

Why use Nylon Fabric Textile Pads?

Due to their strength, durability and elasticity, nylon polymers are widely used in a variety of applications, including flooring, rubber reinforcement, moulded parts for electrical equipment, and food packaging films. Our pads are often used to fill gaps, form a seal or cushion surfaces and fittings.

No matter what grade of nylon you purchase, it is an extremely durable material, stronger than some metals. A further benefit of nylon fabric textiles is their elasticity, allowing them to be easily shaped and moulded into a range of shapes and sizes.

Different Grades of Nylon Fabric Textiles

Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, we work closely with a network of suppliers and manufacturers to ensure we offer a wide variety of products while keeping lead-times to a minimum. Grades of nylon fabric textiles available from us include:

    • Nylon 66: formed by combining hexamethylenediamine and a for of dicarboxylic acid. Commonly used in the textile and packaging industries
    • Nylon 6: Unlike other nylons, nylon 6 is not a condensation polymer, but instead formed by ring-opening polymerization. Commonly used in seals and wear strips.

Benefits of using Nylon Fabric Textiles?

    • Durable
    • High elasticity
    • Excellent abrasion resistance
    • Highly resilient
    • High resistance to insects, fungi, animals, as well as Molds, mildew, rot, and many chemicals
    • Melts instead of burning
    • Good Heat Resistance
    • Easy to Machine

Advantages of using Nylon Fabric Textiles

Using nylon fabric textiles provides a variety of benefits, including noise dampening properties, mold resistance, durability and good heat resistance. Nylon is often chosen to replace bronze, brass, aluminium, or steel parts due to its easy conversion, low cost and high performance in demanding environments.

Among the many industries that utilize nylon fabric textiles is the automotive industry, where nylon is commonly used for washers, gaskets, and spacers.
