Polyethylene Foam Strip

Polyethylene Foam Strip

Polyethylene Foam Strip Manufacturers

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are leading UK producers and suppliers of  Polyethylene products, converting hundreds of blocks into finished products each month.

We have a huge storage facility enabling us to stock blocks ‘buns’, rolls and sheets of polyethylene, in a range of densities and colours all ready for conversion and therefore allowing us to keep lead times as low as possible.

Other names or terms sometimes used to identify this material are block foam, PE foam, polyethylene sponge or LDPE (low-density Polyethylene) foam.

Blocks of Polyethylene foam can be split down to thicknesses starting from as little as 1.5mm, in 2-metre x 1-metre sized sheets or rolls, made by joining blocks of material together prior to splitting them, both of which can be used to further convert into cut strips in lengths of up to 100 meters.

Polyethylene foam strips,  gasket tapes or sealing strips or foam tapes as they are commonly known, are all made to order, and manufactured using state-of-the-art machinery including band saws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required - for very small strips in high volume runs, a kiss-cut option may also be available for faster production and time efficiency for the end user.

In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high-quality, competitively priced polyethylene strips  Our on-site laminating service enables us to supply polyethylene foam strips in a choice of finishes including plain or coated on one of both faces with a range of self-adhesives, foils or even laminated to other materials.

Quality Polyethylene Foam

The quality of service and the products manufactured from Polyethylene Foam (60Kg) is controlled by our Quality Management System which is certified to ISO 9001.

    What Are Polyethylene Foam Strips?

Polyethylene foam strips are pieces of material cut to a specific width and length as requested by our customers, in some cases available as continuous rolls or coils to be cut as when needed by the end user, often used in a similar way to a gasket placed between two surfaces to create a seal, provide cushioning or insulation.

Polyethylene foam is part of the Thermoplastic foam family, a chemically cross-linked foam which is blown during the manufacturing process resulting in a small, uniform & closed-cell structure. This creates a  high-quality, lightweight material, with a number of resistances and insulation properties as well as being available in a variety of grades, densities, colours.

Densities in which Polyethylene foams are produced include 25kg, 30kg, 45kg, 60kg, 100kg, EEV, EVA, Conduction, Anti-static and Flame Retardant.  All of these grades are manufactured in 2meter x 1meter sized blocks, which can be easily joined and split into continuous rolls of material, which can be taken in full, cut down into sheets or further converted into finished usable parts such as strips and tapes.

    Benefits Of Using Polyethylene Foam

    • Lightweight, strong & durable
    • Good impact and shock absorbing properties
    • Water repellent and buoyant
    • Excellent chemical, solvent, grease and fluid resistance
    • Good thermal and acoustic insulation
    • Easy to cut, convert  & shape

    Types Of Polyethylene Available

Having a network of manufacturers and suppliers, allows ASG to offer a full range of polyethylene materials, many of which are readily available from stock for a quick turnaround.  Below are just a selection of some of our popular polyethylene material types we can offer:

    • Polyethylene (Block foam)
    • Alveo
    • Anti static
    • Ethafoam
    • Eva foam
    • Flame retardant
    • Chemically cross-linked
    • Plastazote
    • Stratocell

    Why Use Polyethylene Foam Strips?

Polyethylene foam strips can be used to fill gaps and irregularities between uneven surfaces, provide a solution to unwanted rattles, noise, and vibrations, seal against air, gas, dust and liquids, and can also be used to cushion between moving parts to reduce friction and damage to components and equipment. As Polyethylene materials are formulated and manufactured in a range of grades and densities, they offer various properties for use in different applications, with many densities available in a choice of colours.

Polyethylene foams have a low compression set, and is resistant to water, oils, chemicals and weather, with its closed cell structure offering a good tear resistance and not allowing the growth of mold or fungus.

Polyethylene foam has a number of desirable properties alongside the resistance to wear and tear - it offers Ozone, UV resistance and a working temperature range of -60°C - +90°C, it also offers excellent mechanical characteristics including noise and vibration control and can be used for thermal insulation.

Advantages Of Using Polyethylene Foam Strips

Low Density Polyethylene Foams are perfect for the production of strips and tapes and can be supplied with a quick conversion time. As the raw materials are manufactured and cured in block form, it allows the option to quickly split rolls or sheets ready for converting into strips.

Polyethylene foam is manufactured in various grades therefore customers benefit from a number of advantages and a choice of properties allowing the material to be utilised in numerous industries and applications from dust seals and flame retardant gasket tapes, through to the construction of theatre and production props.

Polyethylene foam is a man-made material, with a closed cell structure which can be used in sealing applications against liquid, gases and particles. The foam also has a number of desirable properties including a high resistance to wear and tear, Ozone, UV, resilience to repeated impact and a working temperature range of -60°C to +90°C. It also offers excellent mechanical characteristics including noise and vibration control, for shock absorption and can be used for thermal insulation.

Polyethylene foams are aesthetically pleasing, with a nice texture which is easy to fabricate, laminate and cut into parts using a range of techniques and processes for use within the theatrics, building and construction, HVAC, automotive, packaging and sports industries.
